Ntcham “didn’t want to play”
at 19:06 5 Aug 2023

To add to this, according to news sources, Samsunspor were due to sign an ex-PSV teamate of Joel Piroe called Mohamed Ihattaren, an attacking midfielder, until that was called off late yesterday.

New players desperately needed
at 22:49 1 Aug 2021

We'll probably need a few loan players once more this year.
Watched the MK V Spurs match on Wednesday and two young Spurs lads caught the eye.
Nile John & Dane Scarlett, both 18 years old I believe.

Will replacing the coaching team turn out to be an expensive or lucrative exercise?

It's going to be another rollercoaster ride for sure!

If it goes well, let's hope that Uncle Julian has put in a 2 zillion year release clause in the contract precluding the team from moving to Norwich or Brighton until that time.

Oh! Mam fach!

Sbaeneg actually Mr Hunglow! How about you? anything on the go tonight?

And for the record, I am proudly Welsh, and absolutely not anti-english/british, though I must confess to having sung what I can only loosely describe as the 'Chariot Song response verse' on a few occassions many years ago.

Never too late to kiss and make up

All this sounds rather expensive - sc pay off, soon to be coaching staff pay off.

RM and his charabanc full of merry men arriving from Milton Keynes for lots of gold coins too.

Perhaps, not the best bit of business both financial and football

Major change of strategy in Swansea manager hunt
at 20:28 29 Jul 2021

Probably been said here many times before, but it would be in the long-term best interests of the club to add a Head of football to the business.

The Chief Executive should sit above that position, overseeing all departments at the club.

The Head of football should be drawing the list of candidates for Manager/Head coach of the men's first team.

Major change of strategy in Swansea manager hunt

It is relevant, because Steve Cooper without doubt produced on-field success in his time at the club.

We know that his salary was in the region of 4k per week and that he was approaching the last year of his contract.

Let's say he'd asked for a new 3 year contract with a rise of 25% - taking it to 5k per week and was refused.

We now read, albeit in the papers/odds that Wilder is a contender. His last salary was 14k per week. At best , I daresay he'd accept half of that. That is why it is relevant.

Add on to that any new transfer funds promised to a new manager as part of attracting them and we begin to see a worrying inconsistency in the way management is operating.

Indeed. it would be somewhat strange.

Even if Cooper was told that he'd have less money this year, i'm sure he'd have the intelligence to realise that after the past year, things haven't quite worked out as all of us would have expected - as will be the case for the football business. He'd presumably also have been aware that as a club, we pretty much need to sell a player for a good amount every year to have a chance of transfer funds.

I guess he hid not have the heart to continue as he didn't think he'd be able to at least replicate what he'd done over the past two seasons on lesser resources.

If now, a golden egg has somehow been laid, no doubt he'll be slightly annoyed.

Alan Knill in the mix now
at 13:18 29 Jul 2021

I quote the Athletic :-

“I am a coach who can manage,” he (Knill) says. “A proper manager has to love managing, and I didn’t. I fell into it at Rotherham. Once you are in, that is it – you are stuck in it.

“Once I became Chris’s (Wilder) assistant at Northampton, I had found the role that made me most comfortable. We work well together.”

Forest Green Rovers v Swansea City : 28th July 2021

Thanks for the reply Keith.

Being higher in the pecking order than Tate, I would have imagined that Marsh would have been the one to take temporary charge of the club once Cooper had left.

I guess the position with the coaching staff is somewhat complicating matters with a new manager tto, as many would prefer/demand that they bring in a team of trusted assistants.

If there is money in the budget for for Wilder & Knill, yes, absolutely.

Though, if there is money for those two, it clearly opens up the possibility of approaching many others too.

That's not expressing a desire on my behalf to spend any more money than is needed. I mentioned Pascal Jansen of AZ Alkmarr on another thread, not only because he is the type of manager we should be monitoring, but he is also on a reported 4k a week.
Winter should have a list of this kind of candidate.

Another tidy article Keith. Diolch.

You wrote :-
'Head of recruitment and ex Rotherham and Brentford manager Andy Scott currently manages much of what business the swans can do at present. We know this frustrated Steve Cooper greatly during his time at the club, and he found it very difficult to understand the fixed financial constraints passed down from the USA. Scott on the other hand does, and has more access to information at that level.'

Just for balance, here's a link to an Andy Scott interview from a few months back :-
