| The keeper to player on the D pass 15:45 - Dec 10 with 715 views | kensalriser | This is a new phenomenon, isn't it? It's giving me kittens every time. Keeper plays it straight to a defender on the D who is immediately closed down by two opponents, leaving him the options of a swift pass back or to a teammate on either side. One slip and an opponent is one on one with the keeper. Where's the advantage? Seems a barmy high risk, low reward move. And it's not just us doing it. | |

The risks seem greater than the minor rewards though. It does feel like it's only a matter of time before it goes wrong, particularly with Nardi's nervousness with the ball at his feet.

It’s interesting to watch and I agree, risky. I have different levels of anxiety that are dependent on who receives it on the D. Maybe it does invite the press and avoid Nardi going long but once the ball goes out to the FB, it mostly goes long at that point anyway because they are also being pressed. I do wonder if we could avoid the risky business in the middle and just send it directly to the FB. Hopefully someone smarter than me can help with an answer to this because there must be be a reason for it that I can’t work out. Does it create a better angle or suck more players in to release more space maybe ? Confused.com
| Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

The other issue is when the opposition don't press, as Birmingham didn't do last night. Then what? We don't have the CM to play through them. I noticed Nardi started to go long from about 20 minutes after he was instructed to by the bench.

I'd prefer if they just pushed Dunne up to the half way line and aimed the goal kick to his head for a flick on and cut out the scary short pass nonsense before the boot upfield with not much chance of winning the ball. I wish someone would ask Stephan about it in one of his pre or post match interviews.

I love him but I’ve noticed he can’t pass water in the first twenty minutes of a game never mind complete one. He’s usually fine after that .
