Southampton V Walsall The Verdict
at 11:27:45

Huge disappointment that, because of all the missed chances, we didn't win 9-0.
Just kidding :)))

This is turning into a very memorable season. Long may the unbeaten run continue.

PS How lucky are we to have a player like Ryan Fraser playing for us at this level !?!

Magnificent Southampton Away Support Now Needs To Be Replicated At St Mary's
at 12:13:16

Bowlercow, yes it's embarrassing that we don't have a proper home end. Away fans find it quite amusing, especially for big FA Cup games when they take over nearly all of the Northam and our singers disappear almost completely.

Magnificent Southampton Away Support Now Needs To Be Replicated At St Mary's
at 11:23:21

At Millwall, we had a whole end whereas at St Mary's, as you point out, our vocal support is divided into 3 small groups in the corners. We've divided to be ruled by the away fans. If the singers joined together at one end our home support would be as good as our away support. The Northam will always be the away end because that's what the police insist on so the logical place for this is the Chapel.

A week later and could our defensive issues possibly be any worse? No team in the whole of the Championship has conceded more goals than we have.

Saints V Rotherham Where Have We Met Before ?
at 13:24:48

We beat Rotherham 6-1 twice in consecutive league games in 1964. George O'Brien scored hat-tricks in both games and I was at the second of those games, when Martin Chivers also scored a hat-trick.

Russell Martin Sets Out Ross Stewart Recovery Schedule

What's Russell Martin's recovery schedule going to be? It would be great if it were to take place at Swansea but I don't think they'll take him back. Eastleigh maybe?

Southampton V AZ Alkmaar The Verdict
at 09:56:54

Russell Martin "got his Swansea side to" 15th and 10th. The previous season Cooper got them to 4th. Swansea's squad isn't bad. We'd love to have some of their players, like Piroe and Grimes. It wouldn't be a surprise to see them finish above Saints this season.

Saints Lose Opening Pre Season Friendly

The best thing that happened was McCarthy being subbed at half time. Why on earth is he still here???? I guess the answer is because no other club would be stupid enough to take him.

Livramento Transfer Takes A Surprising Loan Back Turn
at 10:22:36

@Monksway. The club's debt, which was already well over £100 mill when SR took over, must have pased the £200 million mark by now after the money spent on players last season, and, of course, interest payments need to be paid on that. So, a lot of money needs to be raised. That probably means we'll be forced to sell players for whatever we can get at the end of the transfer window so the vultures are circling and waiting until then.

Saints Launch New Home Kit For 2023/24 Season
at 15:16:30

The Hummel designers are very lazy. They just recycle old designs when there are lots of ways you could create new Saints' shirts. For example, you could have slightly broader red or white stripes, you could change the shade of red, you could have a red sash with a white stripe running through the middle of it etc etc.

The Southampton roses are in fact red and white, and so they were on the club's traditional badge. They symbolise the fact that the armies of Lancaster and York were united when they marched through the Bargate to set sail from Southampton for war with France.

Who Is Russell Martin? A Saints Fans' Guide To Our Alleged New Manager
at 13:37:54

From the Swansea fansnetwork forum:

"When he goes, we will see a putrid goalkeeper replaced, the end of suicide defence passing and players being respected and nurtured playing in their best positions.
It might see us enjoying watching us again."

"It hasn't taken two years to get ready to launch an assault on promotion. We've basically wasted those two years trying and failing to get Martin's process to work. It's only when we abandon most of it that we get results.

By any reasonable measure he's been a failure here."

Who Is Russell Martin? A Saints Fans' Guide To Our Alleged New Manager
at 11:46:47

The highlight of Russell Martin's managerial career was a record 56 pass move in a game his team lost to Gillingham. Brilliant.

If you aspire to excellence, you don't embrace mediocrity but sadly that's what Sports Republic appear to be doing with their managerial appointments. The average league position of Russell Martin's teams in League One and the Championship is 14th.
