| Loftus Road / Rangers Stadium - Such a privilege to have as our Home Ground 13:16 - Feb 13 with 1568 views | numptydumpty | Fantastic for atmosphere and being close to the action and literally second half the crowd can almost drag the ball into the net themselves. Even when most clubs played in more antiquated stadiums, our ground was still one of the best to be at, in order to be fully into the games and for the experience. But even more so now, with many new stadiums being soul less. Yes there are and always have been issues such as leg room and not as up to date as others but as Rangers fans i do feel most of us love "Loftus" as being a bit special. One day, we will move, many of us might not see that, but i do hope a new stadium will keep the atmosphere in and the feelings of being so close to the action also. We have been so so lucky to have had our stadium for our home fixtures to be here and over so many many years, also. You do realise how much we have to be grateful for - to have played our home games here. Love the place. Its such a special ground for fans in terms of the overall matchday experience. From my own perspective, hope we remain for as many years to come as is possible.... [Post edited 13 Feb 13:18]

I will never forget the excitement as child in the 80s and early 90s, my dad coming home with those blue tickets and telling me and my brother that we're going to the game tomorrow. We'll be in South Africa Road. Wow, amazing. Then the next match, it's Ellerslie Road. Incredible, Ellerslie Road! As a kid these stands and the ground held almost mythical and magical status in our minds. Then walking up the steps and seeing the green pitch for the first time. Smelling the smoke, hearing the swearing, seeing us beat teams with ease as Bannister or Wegerle tore teams apart. And then I go today and it's pretty much exactly the same ground as it was then. It's funny to think that we went through the period and trend of other clubs building new stadiums which initially seemed exciting and a step forward. But as these stadiums became more and more common and everyone realised they lacked soul, we now feel lucky that we're still stuck at Loftus Road. It'll have to come to an end one day but I too feel very lucky that we've had it for so long. My friend also remarked that our improved home crowds may be due to the fact that in this digital and sanitised age, maybe the word has got out that you can still feel the authenticity and edge of English football and life, by going to QPR. Maybe that's what Lineker was after the other day.

I remember how privileged I felt on my first time in the East Paddock to be able to see the bottom half of the goal at the Loft End.

We are the only club in the top 2 divisions to have not modernised their stadium or moved to a new one in the last 40 years. Our ground has appeal for all the usual reasons, but it’s 2026. We need to find a way to sort the issue out.

As much as the past holds the best memories for me, you are right about football today. Different animal altogether, and we don't seem to be able to evolve on or off the pitch. LR was always best when it had standing IMHO.

8k? think we have an average of around 16k this year. How big is Bournemouth's ground?

16,700 average according to Google. The standing area where I am always sells out these days. Another reason to love LR; the rail seating.

| Loftus Road / Rangers Stadium - Such a privilege to have as our Home Ground on 12:24 - Feb 16 with 311 views | Rs_Holy | love Loftus Road but we are selling out regularly (despite indifferent form). Surely there must be some scope for a new main stand? Would an extra 3000-4000 seats (with no restricted views) be worthwhile? | | | |
