After the disappointing end to the U's unbeaten run on Tuesday, Danny Cowley takes his charges to Gresty Road for what already feels like another six-pointer. Crewe sit 12th in the table - two points and two places below the U's - and come into the game with a mixed bag of recent results: two wins, two defeats and two draws from their last six. Their most recent outing was a 2–2 draw away at league-leaders Bromley on Tuesday night, sealing a point with an injury time equaliser. At home, Crewe have quietly put together a strong run. They haven't lost at Gresty Road since their FA Cup first round defeat to Doncaster Rovers, and their last league loss there was against Bromley back in October. It's becoming a bit of a fortress for them, and I don't anticipate this being an easy game for us. There's been limited team news for the U's, other than a new signing; midfielder Finley Barbrook joining on loan from Ips**** Town until the end of the season. DC recently said in an interview that Ellis Iandolo could be back playing by the end of February and at the same time quoted Micah Mbick on the injury list, so it looks like we're going to be without the Charlton loanee again this weekend. Will Goodwin didn't deliver as the lone striker against Grimsby on Tuesday night and I even heard some people comparing him (unfavourably!) to Tom Hopper. I wouldn't start him again Crewe and would change the attack to Samson Tovide up top, with Kyreece Lisbie and Owura Edwards on the flanks. I'm not much of a fan of a lone Tovide, but if I recall correctly, he does have good form against Crewe, with two goals and an assist in six games. My starting XI would be: MaceyVincent-YoungTuckerAraujoTerryBarbrookReadLisbiePayneEdwardsTovide I'm going to predict a 1-1 draw, with Tovide scoring us - with four goals in 30 appearances this season, statistically he's due one! The weather is light rain and a gentle breeze, with a chance of some sunshine breaking through the clouds during the game. Safe travels to those going to the game, and Up the U's! |

Jayden Fevrier has joined Charlton on loan from Stockport. https://www.charltonafc.com/ne Going up a league on loan seems a bit odd. Shame it's not a big money move, as I expect we have a sell-on clause. |

My biggest frustration with that game wasn't Grimsby's shithousery or the inept officials, it was our inability to shoot. We spend most of the final third of the game passing the ball around the outside of the penalty area and holding up the ball in the hope that we'd draw out their players. We should have just hit them on the break and shot on sight. You don't score if you don't shoot |

I've only been to Grimsby (well Cleethorpes) once. That was a Tuesday night game, and when I called in a chip shop for my fish supper before the game, I was told by the staff that they're known for their Haddock, not Cod. Cod or haddock, I don't expect us to be battering anything tonight. This is going to be a tough game, and I'd take a draw now. I'd love us to win it, not just as a six-pointer, but to get retribution for the pitch's contribution to their win last season. |

Retired from playing last year and hinted at owning a club then. Asked about becoming a coach in the future, Pato added: "Who knows... I don't think so, or at least that's my current thinking. Maybe as a manager or as a club owner. I've gained a lot of experience in my career, and I can share that with the players. I'd like to do that." https://www.tribalfootball.com |

The table has been updated after the Fleetwood win. Everyone predicted a victory for the U's, with me, BLACKCAT, Blue4U2 and RSCOSWORTH all going 2-1. Blue4U2 and RSCOSWORTH also had Lisbie to score first, making it two prefect predictions Here are the links to log predictions for the next two games: Grimsby - https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/ Crewe - https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/ |
