Crass Stupidity - A Case Study
at 10:09 3 Jan 2026

A country run by people who have no idea how to run a business. Tax everything, punish the grafters, support the freeloaders.

Sadly we have to bear the costs of our own decisions. Hopefully lessons will have been learned.

It seems fairly well accepted (apart from the cranks and loonies) that the Venezuelan opposition "won" the last election only for Maduro to do what dictators do and rig it. Their leader won the Nobel Peace Prize last year so I would expect her to play a role. Probably the major role.

Trump claiming that the US has "captured" Maduro.

Hope he's right. Venezuela could be a wealthy and prosperous nation if if wasn't ruled by corrupt Socialists. Albeit it's kinda their own fault for being dumb enough to elect Chavez in the first place.

This.

In Ntcham and Pato we had players comparable to the ones we have now, we just had a piss poor excuse for a manager who had no idea (or perhaps knew but didn't care) how to use them properly.

Anyone with a brain should have been able to see that Ntcham should have been playing through the middle instead of from the flanks.

I suppose there is a role for him if Matos is looking for an Energizer Bunny off the bench to keep the press up for the last 10/15 minutes, otherwise he's going to be of limited use.

If he can't get in the Wigan squad then he's unlikely to be much use to us.

Recalled in hope of a quick sale maybe.

No further comment is needed generally. CJ is an obvious troll and not a very good one. It startles me when people reply to him in a genuine fashion.

Mock him and the bollocks he comes out with, but never take him seriously.

Is Vitor Matos a genius ?

Yep.

Yalcouye was playing very well but Fulton gave us a physical presence that he couldn't and we gradually fought our way back into the game after looking well out of it for 10/15 minutes.

There's certainly a place for him in that "senior pro" role that Naughton used to fill. Can slot in to start and won't let us down when needed, won't kick up a fuss if on the bench.

The Israeli strikes against them have demonstrated that whilst they may be tough paying terrorist groups to do the hard work for them, the Iranian military isn't up to much when directly confronted themselves.

Hope the people get what they desire. But maybe not chuck an Ayatollah into power the next time they dislike their Government.

He'll have to take a pay cut but yeah, he's got another year or two in him. Especially if he's sparingly used.

On the face of it, it's really quite bizarre that a player we paid less than £500k for ten years ago and who has played more than 300 games for the club since in the top two divisions of the English pyramid should be held in such disdain by a certain section of our support.

Really does defy all logic how some players become hate figures for the simple of thought through no fault of their own.

Agree on how to make the false 9 work. We need to be quicker moving both players and the ball than we have been. I think they're capable of it, but it will take time.

An odd game tactically.

Playing without a striker cost us in terms of creativity, but it didn't half make the press effective. WBA simply couldn't keep the ball long enough. Second half we subbed our way to a more conventional setup and it was like our half time drinks had been spiked with Mogadon. WBA went up several gears and it seemed like only a matter of time until we conceded.

Enter Jay Fulton. Goal aside he was excellent when he came on. Helped us to bully our way back into dominance.

Yalcouye probably our best player but nobody really played poorly. Key did well in the first half which will be a boost to his confidence hopefully. Pleased to hear the amount of support for him from around me in the East. People wanted him to do well.

As for the main crux of the thread, A&E is treated as a GP service by a lot of people. Some because they're complete idiots, others because their own GP's are useless.

I once got told I had a cold by a GP who couldn't be bothered to see me in person then spent much of the next six months on steroids dealing with the after effects of a serious chest infection, so you can understand why some people seek a second opinion.

The British State should not be providing interpreters under any circumstances other than diplomatic. Down to the individual to supply their own. If they can't, tough shit.

It's not as if heat pumps are a better option than gas boilers either. They're more expensive and far less useful unless you're in a modern new build.

Few things did more for the lot of the agricultural worker than the Black Death. Those who survived saw a significant increase in their wages, freedoms and general living standards.

If, as is posited, the rise of AI will result in a wave of jobs ceasing to exist, the absolute last thing we need is millions of unemployed and unemployable people arriving every year.

And as previously said in other threads, the small boats are a distraction. Hundreds of thousands more arrive legally.
