Family Fun Day At Memorial Cup
Family Fun Day At Memorial Cup
Thursday, 14th Jul 2011 14:42

Saints have just announced details of events planned on the day of the memorial Cup tournament.

I must admit when I saw the itinerary for the memorial Cup game it struck me that there would be a lot of waiting around for Saints fans, not just wth the 45 minute gap between games, but given that many wouldnt be too interested in watching much of Werder Bremen V Athletico Bilbao, it would havemeant a 2 1/4 hour gap between Saints first game ending and their second game starting.

However Saints have announced that the day will have a family theme to it, that supporters will be able to wander freely around the ground with their match ticket and that behind the Kingsland Stand there will be a free funfair as well as a few sideshows like a penalty taking gallery and bouncy castles and its all free.

I applaud Saints for this initiative and it adds value to the day not to mention keeps kids entertained as after all over four hours in the ground from first kick off till finish is a long time.

I hope that they also take the opportunity to perhaps take the merchandising out of just the club shop and into the concourses, I have always felt that in each Concourse a stand selling the most popular items sold in the club shop would do a roaring trade as it encourages those to spend when perhaps they might not and I dont have a problem with this as it can only benefit the club, on this day there will be far too many fans at the game than can be got in the legastore, so why not take the megastore to them, anyone who has ever been to a MLS or Baseball game in the States will testify what a roaring trade these type of kiosks do on match day in relatively cheap and popular items like scarves and T Shirts etc

But this is a minor suggestion and Saints as i said should be appluaded for trying this sort of thing, long may it continue
