Liverpool Then Liberty Says Anderson

Liverpool 1st For On Loan Winger

I guess there isn't much competition between Liverpool - five times European Champions and Swansea City - Welsh Cup winners on more occasions but Paul Anderson says he would not discount a move to South Wales if it didn't work out for him at Anfield.

Anderson has been a total hit at the Liberty this season after joining on loan from the Reds in a season long goal. Half a dozen goals have seen him joint top of the goalscoring charts along side Jason Scotland and that has come from a man unable to hold down a regular starting place in the Swans side - well not yet anyway.

Only earlier in the week his current manager Roberto Martinez - a friend of Rafa Benitez said how much he would like to keep Anderson when the deal runs out at the end of the season. A point that wasn't lost on Anderson himself. "I went into Melwood (Liverpool's training ground) and a couple of the boys were giving me some stick because the story was on Sky Sports News," says the 19-year-old in tonight's Evening Post.

"But it's really nice to hear that from the club. It's nice to know you are wanted.

"It's not really something to think about until the end of the season," he adds, "but I would like to think Liverpool will still want me.

"I'm hoping that I can go and make it at that level because everyone wants to play as high up as they can."

"If it all fails at Liverpool, then Swansea are a great team. If it came to it and there were a couple of clubs who were interested, I would probably pick Swansea over anyone else.

"When I was younger I was a right-back so I was never a goalscorer then

"It was only when I was 15, when there was no-one else to go there and I got shoved forward, that I started playing on the wing.

"I got a few goals then, normally between five and 10 a season, but I've never had six by the middle of October before.

"My aim at the start of the season was to reach double figures for Swansea, but looking at it now it would be good if I could push myself on to 15.

"From what I've seen we've got the five best wingers in the league

"If you have one bad game, that could be you out of the side for a month."
