Moyes move to end Brian's Baggies dream?
Moyes move to end Brian's Baggies dream?

Brian McDermott still amongst the front-runners to replace Pepe Mel at West Bromwich.

Brian McDermott was joint second favourite to replace Pepe Mel at West Brom on Tuesday tea time, who tipped him at 4/1 to take over at the Hawthorns according to Sky Bet.

Despite a mediocre campaign at Leeds, McDermott is tied jointly with Tim Sherwood who today lost his job at Tottenham with ex Cardiff boss Malky Mackay still the 11/4 favourite.

However if Brian is keen to swop West Yorkshire for the West Midlands, he will be keeping an eye on David Moyes's price. The recently disposed former Manchester United boss is as low as 6/1 with some bookies to take the Albion job.

Or at 28/1 why not take a punt on Brian becoming the next boss of our old friends at Norwich City?

Despite his sacking from Leeds being largely anticipated since Massimo Cellino took charge of the club in April, McDermott remains in a job and as the chronic financial situation unravels at Elland Road it seems less likely Cellino will want to face a hefty compensation bill to remove McDermott who has two years left on his contract.

Earlier this afternoon, the Leeds United Supporters Trust released a statement following a meeting between their chairman Gary Cooper and board members, claiming Cellino had inherited an "operating deficit of alarming proportions....spending way over £100,000 a day on operating costs".

The Italian is already rumoured to be looking at making 70 staff redundant at the club, including removing former favourites Eddie Gray, Peter Lorimer and Dominic Matteo from the payroll as well as closing down the Thorp Arch training during the summer months.
