Are Leeds about to appoint a Spanish head coach who is anything but a victor?

Victor Sanchez has been installed as the latest favourite in the Leeds United managerial/head coach merry-go-round and the latest top name in the frame will have whites' fans shaking and scratching their heads.

According to the bookies, with a predominantly Spanish back room team already in place, the main-man shall also head from the Iberian Penisula too.

We've already seen Aitor Karanka and current assistant head coach Pep Clotet heavily linked with the role, but 41-year-old Victor Sanchez is now 6/4 favourite with the bookies.

Sanchez, was a right-sided midfielder who began his career as a player with Real Madrid. He has also spent time coaching the C and B squads at the Bernabeu, however his record as a head coach in his own right leaves much to be desired.

In the past three-seasons he has managed Deportivo La Coruna, who fired him with a 20% win ratio. His next appointment was at Olimpiakos of Greece, who fired him after just two matches. Most recently he was at Real Betis, despite signing a new deal last January he limped home with just two wins in their last 22 games which also included an 8-0 drubbing by Barcelona.

Not the kind of record to inspire one to believe he would be the man to lead us to a promotion challenge?

I suppose a small crumb of comfort is the fact that we've had more favourites of late than Katie Price gets through husbands and boyfriends. Previous odds-on favourite Alan Pardew has dropped away, the weekend has also seen Phil Parkinson, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Jaap Stam linked, although on Sunday night the latters agent appeared to suggest that Stam shall stay with beaten play-off finalists Reading, unless a Premiership club came calling.

However the anxiety amongst Leeds fans is almost tangible. Tomorrow (Monday) Garry Monk will be appointed as Middlesbrough's new boss EIGHTEEN days after he sensationally quit Leeds and we are still none-the-wiser as to who will replace him.
