Leeds offer terms to young keeper

Leeds are reported to have offered a contract to Polish goalkeeper Kamil Miazek, who has already been with the club on trial since last month.
Leeds would be able to sign Miazek between transfer windows as he is currently a free agent, and club scout Jakub Bokiej has taken to Twitter to announce that we have offered the 21-year-old a contract.
Miazek started his career with Belchatow in Poland’s top division, before moving to Holland to try his luck with Feyenoord, before moving back to his home country to join second-tier side Chojniczanka. And prior to coming to Leeds he also interested Barnsley, but evidently preferred to be with a more glamorous Yorkshire outfit.
The Daily Express have quoted him as saying "I do not prefer a particular club, it's all big clubs. It's especially important for me to go to a club where I can do well. I’m determined to go abroad. If there's a big chance then you have to take it. I want to follow in the footsteps of Wojciech Szczęsny."
That could be a tough act to follow, as his fellow Pole Szczęsny spent 8 years at Arsenal, making 132 first team appearances, and is now at Juventus. Miazek will have to bide his time before he can expect to reach such dizzy heights, as he expected to start with the Leeds Under-23s, but evidently he has been signed with an eye to the future.
This might be a sign that Thomas Christiansen thinks he needs more options in the goalkeeping department, with Felix Wiedwald’s recent performances attracting a bit of criticism, but the experienced Andy Lonergan is likely to be the first option if Christiansen thinks he needs to make a change in that position. And it’s not clear where this would leave Bailey Peacock-Farrell in the pecking order, even though the 20-year old is still highly thought of and has a contract running till the end of 2019/20.
As Miazek failed to impress Feyenoord earlier in his career you have to wonder how he can be good enough to succeed at Leeds, but hopefully our coaches have managed to spot something the Dutch club missed, and he will prove to be a useful addition to the squad in the years to come.
