Leeds United secure the signing of West Bromwich Albion striker

Leeds United have today completed the signing of West Bromwich Albion's 19-year-old forward Tyler Roberts.

Leeds United have today concluded their sixth deal of the January transfer window.

Tyler Roberts, a fleet-footed 19-year-old attacker capable of being deployed on either flank or as a forward, has acceded to a four-year contract at Elland Road after West Bromwich Albion accepted a reputed fee of £2,500,000 for the player's services. Roberts' Albion contract was due to expire upon the conclusion of the present season.

Roberts, who made his professional debut for West Brom in a match against Liverpool in May 2016, spent the first half of the season on loan with Walsall of League One, for whom he scored four goals in 17 league appearances. The player returned to the Hawthorns and was expected to feature for the first-team under Alan Pardew - with the forlorn Baggies embroiled in a battle against relegation - but he has been allowed to leave for Elland Road after failing to agree a new contract with the Midlands outfit, who signed England striker Daniel Sturridge on loan from Liverpool yesterday.

In moving to United this month, Roberts follows in the footsteps of cultured midfielder Adam Forshaw (Middlesbrough), 21-year-old Japanese midfielder Yosuke Ideguchi (Gamba Osaka), towering 19-year-old central defender Aapo Halme (HJK Helsinki) and resilient 26-year-old left-back Laurens De Bock (Club Brugge). He could make his debut for Leeds in Saturday's match against Neil Warnock's Cardiff City.
