QPR v Newcastle Betting Preview Friday, 30th Apr 2010 15:23 Brian is back to look ahead to the weekend action at Loftus Road and elsewhere in the sporting world for the final time this season.

Last weeks first scorer lucky 15 had 1 non runner but still returned 69.50 and it could have been more with if Fat Frank had pulled his finger out and scored first instead of second but never mind.
We finish another eventful (for the wrong reasons again) season with Champions Newcastle visiting HQ. I will admit to being one of those folk who wrote off the Geordies before the season started but fair play to them they have been consistent and deserve the plaudits. I was going to back the draw but my spy in Newcastle has told me their players have all had the week off and don’t report back till Friday so for the reason I am going to back us to get the win with a 2-1 victory.
I like the first goalscorer bet as you can pick some decent priced winners if you are prepared to stick with your plan. A few years back we made a fair bit of cash on Danny Shittu to score first and he obliged on several occasions at big odds. This year you could have a similar return backing Leigertwood who has got the first goal on 4 occasions in our 50 odd games this year. His odds tend to be between 16’s up to 25’s. Jay Simpson as top scorer has netted first on 4 occasions but at odds of between 9/2 and 7’s so you can see where the value lies. For this reason I am going to back Leggy for first goal.
It’s a big weekend on the Racing front with the guineas meeting at Newmarket . St Nicholas Abbey is the favourite in the 2000 guineas but Aidan O’Brien’s stable have not been firing on all cylinders so I will take a punt on Elusive Pimpernel for John Dunlop and will make this the banker selection in my Lucky 15. I will back a couple of others in singles
This betting campaign has been successful with a decent profit and with Mark Selby (tipped at 9/1 a couple of weeks ago) still in with a shout at the Snooker my final bet is the one that has provided must success my 4 team trebles and 4 fold. With smaller stakes than normal due to the uncertainty of teams it will still pay a nice profit for 4 winners.
As it is the last column of the season unless we are asked to provide our World Cup tips I would like to thank Clive for all his hard work over the season. He does a great job with this site and I know it is a thankless task that must cause him headaches but he manages to provide a site full of content and high on quality.
