Rest of the Championship thread by Hunterhoop 10 Aug 2024 11:07Toyed with this idea last season. Shall we have a thread to discuss, comment on, cover the rest of the league? A place to discuss other teams’ results, performances, financial implosions, etc?
For example, last night, anyone catch either of the first two games? I didn’t. But somewhat surprised/worried Blackburn scored 4 given how they are meant to struggle. Was it Derby being utter sh*te?
Sounds like Preston are continuing in the same vein of being incredibly dull.
Clive, what do you think? Worth making a sticky? Might reduce the number of threads to manage.

I'm going to have to do a 'don't make me tap the sign' meme for this aren't I? Player sales. They sold Eiran Cashin to Brighton for £10m in January.

ah fair enough. Few years ago I would have remembered that. even big transfers like that just wash over me and I forget the moment I close the tab.

We desperately need to generate a few like that ourselves, or we’ll go nowhere. Derby one of the few sides last year you’d say their strikers are as pony as ours, now signed Agyemang and Morris.

I would contend that charlie might translate into a similar if not better player than Agyemang. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Agyemang_(soccer,_born_2000) On that note, I am interested to see if Jan Celar is with us come September.

Must have lowered his demands - he’d been training in the PFA team this summer, along with Mide Shodipo.

| Rest of the Championship thread 25/26 on 15:58 - Jul 15 by Wilkinswatercarrier | This was my point. Norwich paying £Xm for a player is not sustainable. Parachute payments have ended, they finished near us with them and they haven't built a squad capable of promotion. Who has Norwich as promotion contenders? |
Yeah, but one thing they did was not waste it all on Prem wages, when they went up, they invested it. However, since then, it has been wasted on players who were not good enough, so they can still invest and be clever, but time is running out. They are heading in our direction rather than out of it. We run our club like PNE, Millwall now, but if we had been run that way in the Prem, more likly we would Burnley yo-yoing rather than Norwich slipping down the table.

Having now appointed a proper coach in Manning and with over £40 million from recent sales, I fancy them to be challenging for promotion.

Throwing everything at it to do an Ipswich and go straight up. Fail at that and there is likely to be trouble.

Very decent capture by Pompey on a free. Still only 30 and with stacks of championship experience to boot. When's our next antipodean being announced from the colossal 26-games a season, A league. [Post edited 18 Jul 8:05]

Even if they committed to doing this in June you’re looking at a week minimum to design and call (that is rapid); workshop drawings a few days, buy and fab the steel minimum 6 to 8 weeks and then a week to install Let’s say nine weeks from mid June You’re not having that stand open until September I reckon Moving that fast comes at a premium cost. I’m not sure Fit n Proper Derek Chansiri would actually be wanting to commit a single dollar to it so not looking good
