Rest of the Championship thread 26/27

Reaching down a few leagues, Carlisle beat Harrogate 3-0, despite having nine men for the last hour. And we don’t have to give Mark Hughes any of the credit.

That reminds me of a piece in the News Quiz from the second Gulf War. The Army had issued a briefing about Basra, describing it as a port city, similar to Southampton. A squaddie complained, “It’s a dirty, smelly dump, the whores are ugly and everyone’s trying to kill us. It’s much more like Portsmouth.”

RIP Ted. I never met the man, but I always enjoyed his posts (particularly about Reading!), a passionate man with a lively mind. Condolences to his family on a great loss.

Couldn’t happen to a a nicer bloke than Arteta.

Great line from someone, Arsenal’s first defeat at Highbury since 2006.

What reason do you have for doubting the honesty of DCI Mickey Boyle?

Maybe we should send a scout down to the next Ridgeway Rovers Under 10s game. One of their midfielders may be open to offers.

I find any awards show boring, but the hype and excitement around the Ballon d’Or is especially knob-chapping, considering football has sufficient prize-giving as it is…won on the pitch.

Today just gets better. Ch*ls** keeper just punched in an og.

Now Cole’s off. Lucky it was only a second yellow.

Cruising in the comfort zone at 39.9% possession. You know it makes sense.

I loved the iPod mini, so neat yet so capable. Swept away by the smartphone and wireless downloads, but a marvel of simplicity.

Mrs S has been onto me about this. No point hoarding food if you haven’t got water and power. We’ve ordered a camping stove and candles online. Hope the courier doesn’t feel he needs them more. Also took out some cash, getting water later. The main principle is not to get something you wouldn’t otherwise use.

We had one of those too, kept it under cover in the garden. Like you, started well, but grew to hate it. Lucky to get about what I paid for it when I finally got rid of it.
