That signing and the subsequent reappearance of Hosannah, disappearance and need to play Moss every game has been a noticeable, yet easily overlooked factor recently. Add to that TAR’s injury issues, Allarakhia’s lack of game time and it is hard to argue that sorting out the wing back situation should be the no.1 priority. Beckwith signing is great news though. Would be interesting to see if thought is given to playing him on Perry centrally if he returns before the end of the season should EEL need a break.

I had thought this, too, Beckwith looks to be working well and I feel like we will see him before the end of the season at least for a cameo or 2. Before that, we need cover. Even without TAR now, we have Moss who can play both sides, Allarakhia who can play both sides, Pritchard can play both sides and Tutonda on the left who I thought has been decent enough when he played. That's without Hosannah who will probably drop out now and Bilongo who Jim doesn't seem to fancy either (did I miss anyone?). I just can't see us signing for that position. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

No and I don’t think we should, it’s more that it’s become a position that’s lacked some consistency. Will stick to the opinion that as well as Moss has done in an unfamiliar role, with his own performances being very good, it limits our options when we go forward. Don’t get what has happened to Tutonda unless he’s injured. He always looked a solid option off the bench who defended really well either at LCB or LWB.

"... it is hard to argue that sorting out the wing back situation should be the no.1 priority." Now I've put my glass of whiskey down and my glasses on, this actually reads right to me, sorry

The wing back area is definitely somewhere we need to strengthen, esepcially if we get promoted. Moss is doing a job, but as you say he is limited going forward. Great to play against the better teams to nullify their threats. Tobi is a wholehearted player and a great guy and offers a bit of pace down that side, but if we are to get better do we need someone who is a bit better technically? Allarakia offers attacking threat but can struggle defensively against quicker wide players and due to the physical demands of the role rarely lasts a full game. I would be looking a a quicker, left footed option to play left wing back, who can defend as well as attack. Maybe Bilongo is that option and is being trained up tactically for next season? Beckwith signing for two years is great news. Whatever happens we have a spine signed up, but with enough players out of contract to be able to strengthen in areas such as wing back and number 10.
