Some 64,426 people were waiting for an initial decision on an asylum application at the end of December 2025.
This is down 20% from 80,841 at the end of September 2025, and a drop of nearly half (48%) from 124,802 a year earlier at the end of December 2024.
The asylum backlog peaked at 175,457 at the end of June 2023.
The latest figure of 64,426 is the lowest since 60,548 at the end of September 2020.
The number of people waiting more than 12 months for an initial decision on their asylum claim stood at 22,275 at the end of last year, down from 45,094 at the end of 2024 and well below the recent peak of 91,741 in June 2023.
The negative is that Ministry of Justice figures for the year to September 2025 show that about 70,000 were waiting for an appeal against an asylum decision, which was around double the previous year.

And worse it'll get!!!! Almost 600 illegal migrants crossed yesterday, with another FOUR AND A HALF THOUSAND queued up along the French coast waiting to cross over to the U.K.
QUOTES: "This was a phenomenally busy day in the channel".... "You don't normally see numbers like this"...."We have had, as you just said there, uh, around 2,200 small boat migrants arrive on our shores in the U.K.....That is indicative, according to senior maritime security sources that I have been speaking to of a record year ahead in terms of small boat arrivals".
Thank God for GB News for providing information that 'the mainstream' often wishes to ignore, or distract from!!!!!
There is now concern about the reported (now that's a lot!) 1.3 million illegal immigrant(s) situation in Spain, courtesy of its socialist government.
European politicians whom belong outside of 'insane student activist campus politics' are naturally worried that there will be significant dispersal from that 1.3 million figure that'll end up leaving Spain and rellocating to other countries throughout Europe instead.
Thus Spain, will, by its insanity create major problems for other European countries, because of.
And its only natural to assume that The U.K will be a favoured choice for many amongst the 1.3 million, so it could very well be a case of even greater numbers arriving and being added to what was coming from elsewhere.
Let us hope that Labour get the right signal about this in the by-election. I worry though that it will show that the more migrants arrive, the more we will see an ethnicity-based voting bloc that will oppose tighter controls.

Indeed, and some of the left from various nations are happy about rigging elections by weaponising immigration!
And that was the gist of why the Democratic Party was so desperate for insane/scandalous open border policy in the U.S, along with a voting system that encouraged wrongful practice. Hence the opposition to voter I.D etc.
And of course Labour passed a motion at its conference a few years back that wanted open borders with voting rights for immigrants.
1.Oppose the current Tory immigration legislation and any curbing of rights. 2.Campaign for free movement, equality and rights for migrants. 3.Reject any immigration system based on incomes, migrants’ utility to business, and number caps/targets. 4.Close all detention centres. 5.Ensure unconditional right to family reunion. 6.Maintain and extend free movement rights. 7.End “no recourse to public funds” policies. 8.Scrap all Hostile Environment measures, use of landlords and public service providers as border guards, and restrictions on migrants’ NHS access. 9.Actively challenge anti-immigrant narratives. 10.EXTEND EQUAL RIGHTS TO VOTE TO ALL UK RESIDENTS
And lowering the voter age to sixteen had nothing to do concern for the younger generation having a voice now did it folks?

Lowering the voting age to 13 might help those not happy with our current constitution Might have well gave Sharia Law in Leicester Bradford and Luton too Start deporting right now and freeze asylums claims . Every one Plenty of options though those countries don’t give you a house and health care and a mobile phone When on court, they can also claim cultural ignorance

The cause is the destabilisation of middle eastern countries like Syria Libya Iraq Afghanistan. This was sponsored by Likud and the USA government pandering to the requirements of armed Israeli fundamentalists breaking international law and annexing the lands of Palestine.
All nations forming a threat to this process have been turned into failed fragmented states. Iran is the latest. Expect Iranians to be this next group seeking Asylum from Isreali sponsored anarchy.
The " Settlers" have the West dancing to their tune fighting amongst each other. Tommy has been out as a guest of Isreal. The useful idiot definition.
As I feared, the combination of a strong sectarian vote (aided by foreign language leaflets mentioning global policies tailored to particular ethnic groups and "family voting") and misguided social liberals, got the Greens over the line notwithstanding their crazy policies. This will strengthen the influence of Labour left wingers who want to shift government policy to the left (including crucially on immigration) on the theory that the Greens rather than Reform are the main threat. I see further deterioration in the UK's situation ahead.

Labour claiming that they are the only ones who can stop Reform gaining power has been turned on its head. Perhaps they will concentrate now on running the country properly and introducing sustainable policies, then again. Either way Starmer is toast.

Well, when it all comes down to it , nobody but ourselves are to blame Unlimited immigrants given votes Drugs free to all It’s time

Pretty blame for Farage is that he can’t get over his posh boy visage He looks and sounds smug He turns many off I like many of Reform ideas but hate some
The cos-play "plumber" waving her working class street cred around won't be the last.
The Greens, who let's face it have always been in cloud cuckoo land on policy, now seem to be morphing into a party of Eco-narcissists under that lunatic Polanski and aligning themselves closely with sectarian identity politics. It is a dangerous mix.
The trad Labour voters who have been taking in by her schtik will soon have buyer's regret I'm sure.
Personally I don't think that family voting would have made much difference to the over all result as I think Reform and Labour didin't mount strong campaigns but I do wonder how many of the electorate shouldn't have a vote in the first place. I would strongly argue the case that you have to be born a UK Citizen or resident for at least 10-15 years to be eligible to vote but it's not up to me and thee sadly...
Meanwhile we have these lovely people campaigning to sell off even more of the family silver....

If muslims want Sharia Law, it seems odd they'd vote for a party led by a gay, Jewish man.
In regard to family voting, fair play to Zack Polanski who came straight out and said that any issues should be investigated - quite refeshing really.
This result is probably the worst outcome for Labour.

If you want to hear what most people think (and I stand by that claim) search for the Andrew Lawrence video on YouTube entitled ‘Congratulations, Gordon and Denton’. He’s a comedian by trade but not even he can’t find this funny. It’s brutal but truthful.
I’ve not posted it on here sadly because of the content that may be too much for some and be harmful to the site.
