Doesn’t really matter about colour. Ratcliffe lumped together all immigrants. Which makes his comments racist.
As you know I post a lot on the non football board on here, and I’m pretty sure I’ve never called another poster racist. I don’t use that work lightly.

I’ve no reason to think he’s fibbing.
All it’s quite like that the hospital is staffed by immigrants.

There will always be causes that feel closer to home than others.
If you take Mangos point, that you can’t have an opinion about one conflict unless you include an about every single other conflict, sounds like classic cancel culture to me. |

I don’t watch a lot of live tv.
But today I had Radio 5 on in the car on the way to work, quickly caught up on the Winter Olympics during lunch, off to the gym now where I’ll listen to the Elis and John podcast on BBC sounds, then tonight I’ve got the last episode of the BBC adaptation of Lord of the Flies.
That’s a pretty typical Friday so the beeb is pretty good value for me. |

It's the hyperbole.
You could swear that Ratcliffe has been cancelled and isn't allowed an opinion.What's actually happened to him? Nothing.
AJ's post (as usual) has weight and provides a sensible perspective. We can argue over whether it's racisim (it is in my opinion and I'd like to point out that I very rarely use that word) or culturism (which I get there is also an argument for) but I don't think it's in doubt that he misspoke at best.
It amazing how so many people who are not alowed to have an opinion are constantly giving their opinion.
There isn't half some snowflakery around.

It’s nowhere near an isolated case.
I’ve been absolutely consistent - the grooming gang issue needs sorting but in the most effective way and not to the detriment of other equally awful crimes against children. |

He didn’t mention one prominent culture, he lumped together all immigrants.
Even if he had identified one culture, and suggested that as a homogeneous group they all had shared characteristics, that’s the very definition of racism.
Makes you wonder what United players Diallo and Mazraoui would have thought of it.
As for the white crimes, does that make them better that they’re driven by perversion? I don’t think it can be said that one religion or race promotes that type of abhorrent behaviour, that again would be tarring them all with the same brush. [Post edited 12 Feb 21:23]

It’s because the way he conveyed that message was racist.
I don’t think it’s that difficult:
“I have concerns about the impact of the current level of immigration on our welfare state and how some are choosing not to assimilate which is having an impact on our culture. I don’t think this is sustainable” - absolutely fine.
“We’ve been colonised by immigrants” - racist. It makes no differentiation for those making a positive contribution to the UK and stirs hate. |

Do you know where there’s not enough outrage? With the multiple stories like this that don’t get much air time.
