Season tickets 16:29 - Mar 18 with 3716 viewsMattnme

Stating the obvious I know but should the R's go down I think this is going to be a massive headache for the board/disgruntled fans. I would like to see them try what Charlton did when they got relegated from the prem. For those that don't know they kept prices the same but said anyone buying one would get a free season ticket if they got promoted. Not sure what they did the next year when they failed to get promoted but it kept attendances up in that first season. Kept at the same price without incentive the R's will be playing to very low crowds. Any decrease should be a biggish one to bring in line with other championship clubs but then thats asking them to take a another financial hit.
What do people think will happen and what do they want? Any thoughts?

I can see them getting the season tickets very wrong, more people are going to have to move out of the lower loft this summer, those moved last summer have to pay gold prices now, whether we stay up or go down expect season ticket numbers to drop.

I've paid £709 this year. Don't think I'll pay more than £600 in the championship

you won;t get that much knocked off, more games, wages to be paid etc, best we can hope for imo is prices frozen for season tickets but match day prices coming down

Will stop discussions on a new stadium when we cannot fill up Loftus Road. Expecting a poor attendance against Wigan if we lose against Fulham.

They deserve everything they get if they freeze the prices. More than £700 to watch QPR play fcking Doncaster and Yeovil?

There will be a very generous early bird renewal deal to reward and encourage loyalty.

They have to remember that we lose the ability to sell any missed matches on Viagragogo and times are hard.

My loyalty will be awarded to my wallet if the prices don't come right down.

Maybe there'll be a little deal for early bird renewals, but I can't see a significant reduction happening.

If it was a straight financial decision, we probably wouldn't be paying what we do now.

If we go down, we will lose those who only come to watch Premier League football, but, it's my guess that the emotions will take over in the off season and those who have always got season tickets will again.

I know it's well nigh blasphemy to say this to some, but, the Lower Loft policy may even have netted a few younguns who will nag Dad to renew.

Could be wrong though I admit

I will not renew simply because demand for tickets will drop. Plus tough getting to evening games and just don't like the atmosphere you get with the Millwalls of this world

But. Charlton don't have very many fans, and they've got a big ground. We can feasibly fill up our stadium with actual supporters and we don't have the room to be doing that kind of deal. Won't be happening unfortunately I don't think.

With a sound football man like Phil Beard overseeing this what could possibly go wrong?

I will renew coz I'm a mug punter but for one, possibly three, of my little mob the rest of us may have to chip in to ensure they get their ST renewal.

Notwithstanding the simple FACT is that if the team are riding high attendances will likewise. If we're at the top it won't matter if we're at home to Donny or Villa, play the gate sales right then both will nigh on sell out
I've said it before...... I look at Wolves and it scares the life out of me

We don't have that many true fans either as we will be back to the 8 or 10 thousand regulars we had last time in the championship and with a smaller ground. Saying that I will renew but undoubtedly will moan under my breath about the price as cant see a deal worth talking about being done.

From a personal point of veiw i've been threatening to stop buying one for years. This year could well be the time I carry that threat out. The season ticket has represented poor value for me not for the football on offer but the amount of games I have missed. I can't see that situation changing if anything it is liable to get worse. In the prem I will miss games due to sky, in the championship I will miss games due to the increase in midweek games.

8/10,000 is understating it a bit I think mate.

If you look at our away support which averaged over 2,000 last season and has seen healthy numbers again this year I think it shows we're on a slightly higher level of support than a team like Charlton.

Perhaps I'm overstating things a bit but thats how it seems to me. The main point I was making is that our ground won't allow us to offer such incentives.

Will be back to the 12-14k hardcore so there is some room to offer incentives to people

I think you're slightly undercooking it at 8-10,000 because we got just shy of 11,000 even during the Hart/Harford farce for a Tuesday night match with Ipswich. But yeh they'll find that if they price the season tickets wrong initially, or the team doesn't look like it's going to bounce straight back, 3,000-4,000 people will disappear pretty quickly. Add in the smaller away supports in the division below as well.

I would say that early bird renewals will be discounted by 10 per cent. You are getting and extra 4 games too for reduced prices.

Mattneme —
I didn't see this post until today — which is funny because this was exactly the example I raised with the club directly yesterday. At least they are aware about it, but whether they do anything similar is entirely another matter altogether.

The thing is how many no matter how much they love the club are prepared to fork out the kind of prices we currently charge as a minimum for an adult ticket in say Gold Section, will anyone want to fork out such prices to see us against most of the sides lower down.
Other factors will come into play but continuing recession rising prices elsewhere will mean many die hards might find they are unable to fork out such prices anymore.
To this end the die hard of old simply may not afford it or decide they won't push it againsdt other outgoings, and the tourists won't by and large be interested.
We have a support and a strong one but I suspect it's pushed to it's limit financially and also who will be here next season that will attract you. Alot depends on how TF and co go for things of course but nonetheless we will still be very expensive
