Two cup games coming up.

Tuesday should be used as training to the 5-2-3 formation as currently, based on yesterday, it’s our best formation with current available players.

Appreciate most rested but nevertheless

Tasker at RWB (best position)
Sherring at RCB (where he looked far more comfortable at despite the abuse yesterday)
Flint (best position)
Wilson/BeckwithLCB (best position)
Hannant LWB (best option)

CM
Gilmour (best position)
Adeeko/Francis

Front 3

Hayes/Hendo/Patersen/Smith/Silcott/Middleton

Hopefully no chants of ‘get out of my club’ or ‘how sh*t must you be..’ from the greatest set of supporters the club has ever seen on Tuesday.

The abuse of Sam Sherring today was unwarranted and awful.

There were far worse performances by others both this weekend and last weekend but he is the annointed scapegoat for some.

After Flint played a poor pass today, a chap abused Sherring for it, he was that desperate to blane him. You can’t mistake the two of them.

Not a game to be remembered, but Hendo scored a belting header.
5 at the back looked better after 20 minutes, then even better after 45 with Hannant on for Middleton at LWB.

Jansen is currently my favourite cricketer going, love every aspect of his game and his competitive but not over the top style.

SA are best team around for me, got all bases covered in their 11

So farewell then, Marnus Labuchagne.
Surely your last gum chewing, hyper-active test appearance.
A shame. Jofra will be gutted.

If they win this the kudos to them. They claim to have the worst ref since York had last night.

Day follows night
Night follows day
Scunny sack their manager
As he is cheap to pay (off, unlike Carrick who would cost a bomb to replace)

Midweek NL night, and a night for throwing away leads.

Gateshead 1 up - concede 2 in the last 11
Hartlepool 1 up - concede 3 in the last 13
Southend 2 up - ended up 3-3
H4lif4x 2 up - concede 3 in the last 16

Borehamwood continue their quest to break all points records in the face of no viable competition (Second place Harrogate made hard work over 180 minutes to beat pub team bury afc). Matt Rush second sub appearance for 15 minutes - not bad with J Bird also.

Yeovil looking strong in playoff spots and could be dark horse this season.

Scunny in their own personal version of hell after a 4-1 defeat

TVOS Preview - Rochdale v Accrington Stanley
at 10:25 25 Oct 2026

After a season of watching us play out well (nothing is perfect) from the back last season with 5 at the back (2 wing backs) and 2 CM fielders yesterday was a tough example of when it goes wrong.

For this to work every player needs to know their role, where to be, where each other will be, where they will be next, etc

We got there last season, Gordon would know where Tobi would be, Perry would know where Moss would be, Gilmour the CM with these two, East the other side.

Yesterday from first minute you could see this failing. Full backs couldn’t get an outlet in midfield or their respective winger, so ball turned back to Waller/Flint repetitively

Balls then played direct into CM which lead to first goal and numerous other times where we were simply slower/over powered in this area.

As half wore on plan C was adopted which was to go long. Only problem was, Accy were playing 3 across the back, we had 2 wingers and Brown. They went man for man across the pitch, the two wing backs free to defend further up the pitch and collect the knock down.

Check Mate. Hung, drawn, quartered.

When things go bad people look for scapegoats. Sherring is obvious choice and a returning to fitness Beckwith seen by some as the panecea. Word of caution on this, whenever Beckwith played in pre-season at LB i don’t think he looked comfortable in that position. He was no worse than many others yesterday but is obviously not a RB.

Lots to figure out on the training ground and need a reaction at Port Vale.

From Betfair

England had a 99% chance of beating Sri Lanka after recording 429/4.

£2.7m traded on England at 1.01.
£3.8m traded on England at 1.02.
£2.1m traded on England at 1.03.

They went on to lose… 🫣

Meanwhile , South Africa have just showed why they are in my view the best team in the world, to make it 1-1 versus Australia

Just seen that Tobi is joint top of the cards for L2.

4 yellow, 1 red.

Was surprised he wasn’t booked for handball before his unarguable yellow late on Saturday.

One more yellow for an accumulation ban.

Yesterday felt more like a cup game than the previous cup game this season, with the end to end nature of the second half especially.

A point gratefully squirrelled away for winter.

Aside from Ince having a howler, Tranmere numerous times got in behind and crossed only for it never quite falling for them. Really tough day for both fullbacks.

Gilmour block was tremendous, think there was an equally important one by Flint in the first half also.

10 points clear go The Wood tonight after a 2-0 win away at Sutton.

First hour was pretty average stuff, Sutton possibly the better to be fair to them. As subs came on however Borehamwood looked the much stronger and began to dominate.

Reminded me a lot of Dale last season away from home, very strong in defence and enough to grab a goal or two to win.

Daley connection strong tonight with Cashman scoring the second.

Boring Saturday.

Just the one injury time winner (Barrow) and no red cards.

Carlisle seem to have found their mojo with second win on the trot.
Alti found Borehamwood away a bridge too far, despite leading at half time
Yeovil Valley put 6 past Boston Red Socks
H4lifax win. Up to an impressive 13th
Hartlepool? Miss a pen then lose 0-1. When things are bad, they are bad.

7 point lead for Borehamwood as their impressive start continues. Southend and Harrogate trying to keep up

Flint’s sliding block in the first half kept it at 0-0 and for 65 minutes they in truth looked more likely to score.

Manny on, Francis off, Gilmour back in central midfield, Hayes on for unfortunate victim of circumstances Hannant and it totally changed the game.

Tasker great shout for man of match, Wilson was fantastic too.

The impact of Flint on this team cannot be measured.

Hope Smith is just a knock, but as this season has gone, will end up out for 12 months.
