THOMAS FRANK SACKED...

If precedent at Spurs is anything to go by, if that scenario happened, then they'd sack the manager.

I feel sorry for Paul Hall. All he was clearly trying to do was boost a young player's confidence.

If Harry Redknapp told a reporter that a young player in the reserves, with no first team appearances, could be as good as Luka Modric, would you rely on that as evidence in Court for a multi million pound claim?

THOMAS FRANK SACKED...
at 14:02 11 Feb 2026

So Ange Postecoglou gets sacked immediately after winning the Europa Cup, their first trophy in 17 years, thereby securing Champions League qualification.

Next up, Thomas Frank secures a place in the last 16 of the Champions League and gets the sack

Both achievements are remarkable given how poor the squad appears to be, despite the quality of the stadium, the owners expectations and the players reputations. The manager isn't the problem.

I'm sure Ange will throw an extra couple of shrimp on the barbie and put a few extra cans in the fridge, in anticipation of inviting Thomas over for an opportunity to swap notes, seeing as Thomas just secured an early release.

How many goals had Clive Allen scored before he became 21? He had already been sold for a million quid, twice, by then, back in the days when a million quid was considered a lot of money for a player.

That's a really enlightening article. Thanks for sharing. I now see why Jonny Sexton was kept on the pitch for the whole match against the All Blacks in the World Cup Quarter Final.

True. I was watching it thinking that in snooker or rugby union the referee would have given him a warning of the consequences should he continue to commit fouls.

Ireland are in a tough group and probably needed to minimise unforced errors to win today. That didn't happen and the victory, ahem, slipped through their fingers.

Ireland did really well with the ball against Sri Lanka, bar two loose overs towards the end. Unfortunately they simply didn't score enough boundaries when they needed them and were guilty of chasing too hard.

Yes, unless an appeal is made to FIFA to act as leniently as they did to Ronaldo in the aftermath of his red card in Dublin. His obligatory ban won't take effect until after the World Cup, for some strange reason.

VAR in the EFL

After our annual FA Cup Third Round exit, I scrolled through a West Ham fans website and a lot of them expressed their joy at attending a live game with no VAR. They had clearly been immunised to spontaneous goal celebration.

I'd say Kolli, Dunne and Burrell will attract interest before the start of next season.

I saw Koli being thrown to the ground, totally off the ball, as a corner/free kick came into the box. The officials shouldn't have missed that.

The word highlights is often misinterpreted. My commiserations to the production team who had to create this.

I flew over from Dublin with my son for the day. We did our research beforehand and plotted accordingly. We flew into Heathrow, to take advantage of the direct Elizabeth Line from the airport to Stratford. We had breakfast in a Spoons close to the station, it was full at 10.30 with local fans, some of whom had clearly decided to load up with some anaesthetic early in the day. We then wandered through the East-Westfield to get to the Olympic Park and slid down the tallest slide in the world, which was great fun. We got into the stadium just after 1pm without any bother.

It was an absolute pleasure to join a choir of 9,000 at an away match. As others have alluded to, when both the team and fans turn up, it becomes a memorable experience. In the overall scheme of things, the result didn't matter. The team ran themselves into the ground and everyone can hold their heads up high as they gave everything to a man. That's all anyone can ask for. Sure, West Ham won eventually, but that's what should have happened and nobody is surprised by that. Were they there for the taking, yes. But that would have been against the run in play. How could that have happened? You look at moments, perhaps when individuals broke free down the wing and instinctively decided to shoot from a narrow angle rather than have a quick look up and pass the ball to someone square in front of the goal. I'm sure the coaching team will review what happened yesterday to see what could be improved on going forward. But I'm not going to criticise anyone from yesterday.

Getting home was an adventure. We were warned about hour plus queues to the Station, so left with a couple of minutes to go in Extra Time. We turned south outside the stadium and crossed on the bridge on the south side of the campus. We walked briskly and joined a much larger queue heading towards the station from another direction. We thankfully kept moving through the ticket barrier at the station onto the platform. We got on the first Elizabeth Line train out of Stratford, changed at Whitechapel and got on an Elizabeth Line train heading towards Heathrow at about 5.45pm or so. Job done, or so we thought.

An announcement on the train said there was a fire alongside the track further along our anticipated journey, so we were kicked off at Paddington. With a flight to catch, having already had to delay our exit from Statford due to Extra Time, this wasn't ideal. We decided to get the Hammersmith Line to Hammersmith, followed by the Picadilly Line to Heathrow, as we didn't know whether the fire would have impacted all mainline rail services to the airport. We eventually got there, but it was an adventure which could have gone horribly wrong had we been delayed getting onto our initial train.

Reading about people's experiences, I understand that some took 90 minutes from the end of the match to get onto a train. That's simply unacceptable.

It was a great day out and wonderful to see my son experience it too. I'm still subconsciously humming "Ya Ya Ya Yoooh" to myself at various times today. Long may it continue.

Match of the day.

Is the role of the MOTD production team to provide balanced reporting, or to deliver a narrative that they believe the viewing public want to tune into so they will continue watching the programme? I'd suggest that any neutrals watching would have been familiar with the West Ham predicament, so the post-match narrative would have been tailored accordingly.

Outside of W12, who has even a remote bit of interest in QPR's aspirations for the rest of the season?
