DAN BRETT: No time for panic as Pompey fluff first day lines
at 19:23:50

You've contradicted yourself there I'm afraid - first you clearly say in your first post that Butler was responsible for 2 goals and then, in your second post, you say no one said Moutakil wasn't responsible for the second goal. Butler was only on the pitch for the first 2 goals. It's simple mathematics. Finally, I've re-read the article and still think putting a name to one player rather than the collective, when all had some part to play, is singling that player out and can steer the reader's perception of what actually happened.

Frattontonian - you and your mates must have had one too many before the game! Yassin Moutakil failed to clear the ball for the second goal, which all articles on Portsmouth News etc clearly state. For the first goal, Ferry lost out to Potter in the midfield in the first instance and left Butler to track back from his supporting attack, he failed only to get his feet right and stop Potter getting round him and get a cross in. That's when the centre backs need to come in, they need to provide support to their full backs, and they need to defend the cross and challenge the strike - they did neither. There were a catalogue of errors/poor play, starting from midfield, for the each of the goals, they weren't down to just one player.

Oh and I saw your player ratings on Twitter - if the back four all showed some reckless defending, why did you give them all difference scores and a 7 for Bradley? - he did nothing to challenge any of the strikes.

Everyone's entitled to an opinion but people should get their facts straight - Butler wasn't on the pitch when the last 2 goals went in (he was replaced by Ricky Holmes), so how could he show some "reckless defending" for those 2 goals? Have you got it in for Butler, as you haven't mentioned the other defenders by name, when he was IMO the best out of the back four?!
