Separate thread on that. Strong suspicion that he has been cast out due to his refusal to sign contract extension and/or go out on loan. All speculation and unconfirmed rumours of course. Not featuring for the development team either and we haven't seen or heard anything suggesting he is injured. |

Luckily we didn't exactly continue this season where we left off last, so Marti hopefully a bit out of the limelight now. Rohl signing a 4-year deal great move by him. Job security or big pay-off guaranteed, pension just about finalised. |

Girona is not too far away, might head up there for a football game? Otherwise Espanyol also based in Barcelona. For the tourist attractions, book ahead. Especially Famila Sagria, it is immensely popular. |

Wouldn't be surprised if they raid Plymouth again for Rooney after this weekend's result. |
| Forum Reply | Paal at 09:58 15 Sep 2024
Paal to me is exactly what many others before him were not. In the last year of his contract, perhaps thinking time to move on, but still being a true professional and being available and giving his best game in and game out. There's an example some others would do well to follow. I still hope he signs an extension, which will pretty much require us to be around mid-table at least comes January. |

South Africa usually have a few good ones. "Dangerous Darkies" was one of my favourites, but don't think they exist anymore. The franchise was sold and re-appeared under a new name in another city. Then there was Jomo Cosmos - 80's cult hero Jomo Sono just went ahead and started his own club and named it after himself. |

Depay signed for a monthly salary of 500.000 euros, can go up to 13.5 million over the next two years if all bonus criteria are met. I think its safe to say "he doesn't fit the model". He's had a very poor euro's and been taking a lot of flak here recently. |
| Forum Reply | International break matches thread at 05:05 10 Sep 2024
Agree on that, I think he's going to come good. His biggest problem at the moment is getting minutes with the form Frey is in! As we're buying what the computer says, remember how Moneyball started before it all eventually clicked. |

Celar starting for Slovenia, one yellow card and one assist with them 2-0 up the moment. Good that he's getting some minutes. |

IF the rumours are true (wants first team action, refused a loan), its silly stuff from Kolli. He'd be well advised to look at where everyone ended up that were released from the dev squad this past summer. He has a golden opportunity at a championship club willing to invest in and develop him, if only he will let them. I think in NL we have youth mentors who assist upcoming players in career choices, managing expectations, plotting a career path, etc. Instead of your dad poisoning your head, thinking you're the next Ronaldo off whom he can become rich, just because you tore up some local U13 league. |

If rumours are true that Kolli is refusing to sign a new contract and wants to move on (or feature in the 1st team), I think his appearances at any level will be very limited from now on. That was what was speculated on another thread. What is protocol in such a case? Surely if and employee is not meeting expectations in his job, he can be reprimanded and eventually fired? As always the wonderful world of football probably has different rules, but I would think that if a player refuses to train or play, a club can refuse to pay or eventually fire him? |

Last year when Ajax famously lost in the cup to an amateur team for the first time in their history: A friend of one of the players bet €15 that his mate would score and that they would beat Ajax. They won 3-2 with an injury time winner, his mate scored twice and he won more than €11.000 |

For as much as we (are allowed to) know, who are in the last year of their contracts? Cook, Colback, Frey, Anderson in the 30+ bracket. They all seem to enjoy what they are doing now and for lack of offers from elsewhere considering their age, might stay on. If featured in our plans of course. Paal, Chair, Dunne. Who else? The younger lads are a tougher sell to keep hold of, I think. At this stage I would like to see the bulk of them, if not all, stay on. All depends on how the new lads settle in and Lloyd, Kolli, EDB, etc progress enough to become regulars. |

Taylor Richards not in Cambridge match squad and not listed as injured either. That's odd. [Post edited 31 Aug 16:55]

Looking much improved tonight as well. Really hope we get him to sign a new deal. |
| Forum Reply | Walsh on tonight's win at 09:13 28 Aug 2024
Makes you wonder if we shouldn't have given a few more games last season. But assume the staff judged him "not ready yet". We're in a good position for GKs at the moment. |

Entertaining game. We did well, Luton came at us, but we held our ground. Like Morrison. Quietly did the business. Could develop into a very reliable CB. Varane much improved in the middle. Santos also much better. Celar going to be good, had very nice first time pick-ups and passes from loose balls. Walsh a very good #2 to have at championship level. Lots of positives to take from this one, not least the win. |

It might also be about freeing up wages. He signed a new deal last year, which one would assume was an improved deal (for him). I recall reading that he was now our highest earning player ok 18K a week. That's almost 1m a year. Of course, no way to verify if that is true. |
| Forum Reply | Dykes sold apparently at 10:05 27 Aug 2024
We'll only get an idea of the number if the buying club actually reveals how much they have paid, which is not likely I think. We'll probably have a condition to keep that confidential (for as much as that would be possible) |
