I remember reading that Nourry doesn't like loans that don't have something in it, like a purchase agreement, as otherwise it only benefits the player and other team.
I do worry with Kamara that we might see another Stefan Johanson scenario. Where a loan proves his fitness and ability. Rewarded with a contract, and foot off the gas, shows you why the player was available for loan...
Burrell was really under the radar, all the noise was about Kone as I recall.
Even so under a million on a player in the Champ is still a punt I reckon. When we are losing £2m a month to tread water its almost money down the back of a sofa innit?
Ridiculous really when Southampton, Burnley, Boro and West Ham are dropping +£10m on one player.
The key part here is QPR need to sell one of our development prospects for a big profit and soon.
I don't think we can rely on pretending we got over a million for Sam Field and market this as progress
Just piping in. development project and development squad are not the same thing.
I reckon a development project is buying someone cheap, making them better (more valuable) and then selling them on.
So, in fact Burrell is very much a development project himself. I also think Obikwu was signed for what he could be, not what he currently is.
From what I can tell Obikwu is tall and fast, so very much a different option to the rest of our squad. I'd imagine the hope is he would kick on and give us a different option for the first team.
In the grand scheme of things I don't think this was an expensive signing on a huge wage, so its minimal risk.
Probably a worse signing that doesn't get talked about is Saito, who was signed for a larger fee and most likely has higher wages. Saito is also similar to other players we already have in terms of position and size.
I don't mind the club making speculative signings like Justin, we will never have a 100% success rate. The key is to sell at the top when one does work, and move on quickly when one doesn't
Although, kudos to the club, as most teams would have bombed Madsen out after that first season and what a player he is now!
100% the officials will be talking about him in their pre-match briefing.
Smyth is always looking for that foul, but this season rather than putting his back into defenders and falling over he is running at pace, committing the oppo and giving the ref something to think about.
Thats why he works so well in a counter attacking team, if hes running at full pelt and you're the last man he's going to make you make a decision evertime.
Such a hard working player, really coming into a purple patch under Julien.
Imagine if you could put his experience back into his 20 year old body, what a player you'd have then! I think he is living proof that attitude over ability will give you a longer career, and in fact, the ability has come later in life with all that hard work.
Credit where its due, he's my player of the season so far
Yep, you are right. BT had the deal with Disney to use it and Discovery took on the BT Sports channels, around the same time as Eurosport.
I always thought ESPN was the stronger brand, but they've had a few swings at it now in Europe and the UK and it never really sticks. There just isn't the market for American Sports that anyone thinks there is.
Yeah, I think Madsen was probably unwell at short notice, as the selection looked a bit like Port Vale, where maybe it was under rehearsed?
I think they have to name the squad very early on, so I don't think there is much opportunity to swap out illness for a stand-by, maybe on a home game, but away?
Those dead balls gave me Barton vibes, very weak corners, a pro should beat the first man more often than not, but to be fair when the oppo are a lot bigger we should also have a plan B cued up ready to use.
That might be what they are learning though. Maybe not for Morgan as much, as he already has professional minutes, but for a lot of those players being in a situation with men, who have hunger for progression with mortgages to pay for can be the reality check they might need. ~ Pulling upto the Concorde club every morning in a £100k car thinking they've already made it, etc...
Not saying its the case here, but they will still learn from that environment!
No, I've seen these before. Its normally for unused subs, you can see them in the background during post match interviews sometimes.
The players are made to do an amount of high exertion activity because they were not used in the match, but had presumably already been primed ready to go, so their bodies need to do "something"
I missed replying to this one, although its all moot now.
I can see you've already picked a side Lassel, so its probably not worth arguing about.
I'm not sure its great to have a current player in with the fans at home and away matches. If they want to support the team there are friends and family areas where they can sit. I'm fairly confident this is for optics only, or again is ill judged.
I think Rayan will get a chance in the first team again, as it looks like he has applied himself in some recent DS games.
The club's hierarchy doesn't fill me with confidence, there is no doubt that they don't supply the full picture to any story, I'm sure they would seek to control the narrative at every turn.
But, I did see with my own eyes Rayans Dad tweeting the Nice badge, so don't try and sell me that he is bleeding blue and white etc... I'm pretty sure it was Kieron Morgans dream move to go on loan at Bradford, but his advisors have let him know its better to get league minutes than no minutes, so there is def another story to the Kolli saga imho
I also hope that Kolli plays on Friday and scores a hatrick, see how that works, doesn't have to be a fight where you only pick one side?
