Premier league, best league in the world

Meanwhile Forest got everything they deserved at Villa.

To adopt the no more than one player crossing the halfway line approach was typical of a Dyche team. I laughed when it rebounded on them with Villa score with ten seconds left in the first half.

You're right on this Boston & I shouldn't have expressed my feelings on a certain ex player on that thread.

January transfer rumours
at 16:21 2 Jan 2026

Dembele was on loan for the whole of last season & transferred to Rangers in July as he had activated the clause in the loan agreement.

As he managed to achieve that before his injury (September?), shows that it must have been a soft target. Possibly suggesting that we couldn't afford the fee last season.

There was nothing boring about the Sunderland City game! Watching every Sunderland player putting their bodies on the line & throwing themselves into blocking positions & tackles was a pleasure to see after the misery of yesterday afternoon.

Yes, they were totally outplayed, but definitely worth the hard won point. Once again, Xhaka was outstanding & must be in contention for the Premier League Player Of The Year.

Starting to worry about that one Clive?

I've had the 4 Christmas/New Year games down as no wins for a long time! If we'd been playing Hull, Preston, Wrexham etc, I'd have been far more confident.

Today I thought Dunne was our only outfield player that could be considered for a rating of 5 & that might be pushing it. Perhaps Barry Bannan can wind up our players enough on Sunday for a positive reaction!

Morgan was our only passer of the ball on Monday.

From memory, Arsenal overloaded their left hand side & had three players attacking Furlong. Of course, he received zero support from any Rangers players!

And a Very Happy New Year from me.

Thank you Brian for going back to the days of my youth with what was my exhortation!

COME ON MY TEAM!

I thought Morgan was by far our best passer of the ball on Monday. Indeed, our only player who passed to a Queens Park Rangers team mate! I also thought that IF we are experimenting upfront, Bennie would have been the logical choice unless Kolli was deemed "fit enough" to start.

Back to Esquerdinha. He was better at West Brom than against Ipswich, but I struggle to see that he is making much progression. I'm not opposed to him being given a run of games to see if he will "learn on the job", but not until we have more than 46 points.

Comparing him with players from my youth, I feel he is more like Bobby Finch than Ian Gillard! Gillard had runs in the team, but he had to play second fiddle to Ian Watson for quite a while.

QPR look to conquer away jitters at restless West Brom - Preview

I would suggest that an "extra" league game has been added.

If Boxing Day was on a Wednesday, it would likely to be league games on 26/12, 29/12, 1/1 with the FA Cup being played on 5/1.

Is the Queens Park Rangers attitude to the FA Cup much different now than in your "halcyon" days of the 1980's?

Perhaps we didn't make as many changes playing wise, but we did manage to be eliminated four seasons running by clubs in lower divisions. Three of which were in the third round by clubs at least two divisions below us. That doesn't suggest to me that we regarded the FA Cup as a priority.

Crowds were on the low side as well, even in the season we reached the final. We achieved 12,000 for the 3rd round at home to first division Middlesbrough, 13,000 for the 5th round at home to Grimsby & only 24,000 for the 6th round with Palace which was 4,000 less than the previous year at home to Tottenham & well below capacity.

I confess to not seeing any of the Middlesbrough or Blackpool games, but it was very easy to get tickets from then on as they were not in great demand. This applied to football in general & not just to Rangers.

Not for the first time, I think your memory of that period is different from the reality!

I quite liked the place when I was young & I was given one minute to get out of the ground after our win there in 1973. I appreciated the warning & easily made it!

However, when I last went there for our 1-1 draw in 2013, it was the most frightened I've been at football. Nothing to do with the West Ham fans, but the concourse at half time was crowded & a potential death trap. I was only in there to try to get to the loo & by the time I managed to, a sit down was required!

It was beyond the best before date on the label.

Actually, it used to be 7.30 for midweek games!

I can't remember when the change to 7.45 was made, but I've always preferred the earlier starts.

If Madsen made it like "playing with 10 men", I think we did well to only be one goal down at half time.

After all, Cook & Mbengue gave the ball to a Portsmouth player every time in the first half, so it would have been 8 against 13!

Thankfully, Mbengue improved in the second half. I'm not sure that Cook did.

I think he was going to come on for Burrell, but then they needed to change to Field replacing Norrington-Davies

All Bank Holiday EFL games are on the red button.

The match I'm not sure about is on Monday at West Brom. I expect it to be, but is it regarded as a midweek or weekend game?

EDIT
Sky are listing the Portsmouth game as being shown, but not the West Brom match.
