At 2-0 tonight yes they should have seen the game out, like the 25 others that have done this season. They haven't.Now its all talk of bottling it, throwing it away and not being good enough.

We have played 11 games in 5 1/2 weeks with 6 of those being againt top eight clubs. We have took 27 points from 33 possible, on no planet is that bottling it. And thats is a gruelling schedule so i think tireness is far from a lame excuse it wasn’t more points gained.

Every single person would have taken that after the Hartlepool game.

Unfortunately York have took 25 from 9 games. You have to give them respect.

Yes criticism is acceptable but put it into perspective please.

Ha ha ha Clivert don’t you mean Biggest critic!! 😜

I think if they get well over 100 points then that’s a massive achievement regardless of where York finish.

I can’t see how it’s anything other than a retake. For what ever reason mani d doesn’t attempt to take it. The ref is screaming, maybe he thought he was telling him to stop.

He turns around to retake and is shocked.

And just to put into perspective yesterday’s result.

Yorks form over last 14 games :
12 wins and 2 draws. That would give them 112.

Rochdale form over last 16 games :
13 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses
That would get us 114

As it stands we need 43pts from 16 game. In reality it will probably be lower than that. And if it isn’t and we miss out to York, well hats off to them.

Absolutely no reason not to be positive. We don’t look like losing these games. We created chances, albeit with a lack of quality finish. The wins will come.

A point yesterday was by no means a disaster.

I just think if there ever was a time to add a striker to the squad it would be now, while we still have the advantage

For me Rodney is to inconsistent, when he is on form he is an impact player but that’s only when he turns up. All too often he goes missing in games.

For me our one Achilles heel is our attacking prowess, we still miss the firepower power that York has. Al season we have got through by being clinical rather than ruthless. But yesterday some recent performances have shown we might need more, Solihull springs to mind.

Mani D was subbed before the sending off I think, I’m sure that wouldn’t have happened if he was s still on the pitch. Instead though we were left with ELB up front. One point that concerns mean about yesterday was where was Duku in the squad? It seemed like that last 15 mins was the sort of situation we signed an additional striker for?

Is he not up to it? If there are doubts with the signing then there is still time to bring a striker of quality in.

The Scunthorpe games, Southend, Halifax away are the obvious banana skins. Also aldershot away could prove tricky given the Coleman link and their current form.

Overall though they way we have performed this season we should be able to match York with that run in.

Finally I don’t want to go into that finally game against York needing anything other than a tin of silver polish to prepare for the trophy presentation.

Agree it’s up to us. I think the last 4 homes shows that we have that ruthless streak this season. York would have been looking at the fixtures at the start of Jan and would have circled those four games as a period when they would close the gap.

NOT A CHANCE.

I think it’s going to come to who blinks first. The scoreboard pressure is on York, you can see that from the reaction to getting the points on Tuesday.

If York drop points first and we pull away then the pressure just continues to ramp up. On the other hand we if drop a point we need to not panic. We have a small buffer.

Continue as we have all season, get between 2 and 2.5 pts per game from our next 17 games and we will be there or there abouts 106 to 111 points. York would need to win almost every game to match that.

Steady as she goes

100% a mistake. We were stood in front of it and it bounced off the defender. The Lino gave a goal kick but the ref correctly immediately overturned it and gave a corner

Also got to take into account scoreboard pressure on York if we keep winning.

That goes both ways. If and when we drop points we should not panic.

I think if we do get over 100 points, but end up getting pipped by York we should tip our hats and say what a great achievement, but we were beaten by a better team.

Which ever way it goes if we get into triple points would be remarkable achievement.

As it stands we can afford to drop 7 more points than York. So in true R17ALE stylee, at the moment we require 53 runs from 20 balls.

I’m sure that number will come down as York won’t win every game.

Our form over the first 20 games and the last 20 games is the same 49 points.

Can we replicate that over the last 20 games? If we could it would be 113 points and that would be more than enough. Personally I think we will be around 106points. If York gets that then fair apply to them.

It was quite funny as on the episode the week before the Macc fan on this pod cast was stating York would walk the league by 8 pts. This week it was it’s definitely going to the last game of the season, winner takes all.

It wasn’t specifically about your post d_alien, I agree somewhat with putting more first time crosses. I think alrakhia is someone who tries. But sometimes getting the ball into the box quickly is an option that would be taken

It was more on the general points made on the thread that we don’t mix up our attacking style. I think we do have different threats, it’s just we put an emphasis on keeping the ball.

When we have a full team we have the ability to play long to front man to hold it up, get down the line and cut it back into the box, play the through ball to the forwards to run on to.

The thing that we do lack is genuine pace.

I think to be fair it’s not all pass pass pass, how many assists have Whatmuff and Broome had between them. Also lots of goals come from mani d (a) holding it and laying it off, something we have missed.

Then there’s the ball into the corner for TAR to run onto and cut it back into the box.

I think there is more of a mix than people realise. It’s just we move the ball around to create the opening which in tight games is something that can be frustrating.

For my the one thing that is still missing is the shot from distance when it opens up, East aside there seems to be a reluctance, and to be fair to McNulty this has something he’s highlighted.

On final point, if you keep the ball then you don’t concede. 16 goals (including 4 in a mad 25 mins at York ) in 24 games proves this. As said earlier in the thread Solihull had been free scoring before Wednesday night and they were restricted to a header and a couple of half arsed shots.

Strikers win games, defences win championships!
