| Th'Ashes Down Under on 17:02 - Nov 13 with 3613 views | EllDale | Cummins will be a big loss for Australia in the first game at least. A lot will depend on whether or not England’s battery of fast bowlers all steer clear of injury. Apparently Wood has struggled with a hamstring injury already although Stokes has taken six wickets in England’s only warmup game today. | | | |
| Th'Ashes Down Under on 17:29 - Nov 13 with 3575 views | davidab2202 | The whole game seems a bit strange to me The frontline Batsmen hardly covered themselves with glory in recent series in New Zealand and bearing in mind that the first test match will be played on a fast surface probably with bounce , this match is taking place on a slow low surface Whilst very happy to see Stokes taking wickets , more of a concern is the fact that our opening bowling attack only managed one wicket between them. Hoping I am just being overly pessimistic but feared we might be very embarrassed come a week tomorrow | | | |

That first match is key. To win the ashes we need to win 3 out of 5 games so losing that first game would make it a real uphill task to then win 3 out of 4 games. The Aussies have a good record there and have been playing regularly in the Sheffield shield. My fear is that if we do lose that first game, we will mentally collapse and get a series hammering ( again.) we have lost 13 of the last 15 tests there with 2 draws. All Fingers crossed

His one warm up match before he plays in the Ashes and what does he do? Bats like its a T20 game, dancing down the wicket, playing scoops and out for 2, spending the rest of the day on a balcony. Dare i say it, his ego is both his strength and his achilles heel. Aus strong favourites but i reckon it will be close this time round

Brook has a bit of the Pieterson about him, he's world class and more than capable of being the leading run scorer in the series. I think he'll score heavily on those wickets. Agree he can frustrate at times though, his arrogance is his downfall at times, he makes batting look ridiculously easy when he's in full flow. [Post edited 15 Nov 7:47]

0-1 in the first over after winning the toss and electing to bat. Reckless shot from Crawley.

Some reckless batting, no appetite to build a innings. It's a bit embarrassing really. Bowled out in 32 overs against a weakened bowling attack. [Post edited 21 Nov 6:02]

They can bat how they want because there's no accountability and that comes from the captain and management. Trying to clear the boundary on one of the biggest outfields in the world and then looking surprised when they're caught out in the deep. Let's see if they can perform with the ball.
| Th'Ashes Down Under on 06:42 - Nov 21 with 2415 views | Dale_4_Life | Just seen this is not at the famous WACA.. Shiny New Perth Stadium - Multi Purpose so not designed specifically for cricket. Not sure this batting deck has the same pace as the WACA time will tell. England undercooked and reckless.. FFS all out in less than 33 overs. Scoring close on 6 an over does not matter if you bat for less than half a day. EDIT - 80-5 decent fightback [Post edited 21 Nov 9:04]

We can still make a judgement on some of those awful shots that led to loss of wickets….without them we might have been looking at a big 1st innings lead. I wont make a judgement on the result though….not while stokes still has a large supply of magic dust ( as oppossed to Athertons dirt and Smiths sandpaper)
| Th'Ashes Down Under on 10:23 - Nov 21 with 2203 views | Dale_4_Life | Stumps... Aussies 123/9 19 wickets falling day 1. Whilst shot selection was poor (Test match Cricket after all) I am not convinced that this wicket is fit for 5 days top quality ashes cricket. Lets wrap up the Aussie first innings and then do all we can to eek out a challenging total. At this early stage I would not want to be batting last chasing anything over 250. | | | |
| Th'Ashes Down Under on 10:34 - Nov 21 with 2186 views | Sandyman | Kudos to the Test Match Special commentators. They thought this pitch would suit Stokes' bowling. An hour later he's on and gets five wickets! | | | |

Some psychological damage caused to the Aussie batsman today. The bowling unit worked beautifully. Agree, anything over 250/300 will take some getting batting last.

Hence my point about "shot selection" in the second innings... [Post edited 21 Nov 11:48]

No way that was a 19 wicket pitch today. Minimal movement but a few did seem to hold out. A lot of poor shots today. Surprised how bad the Aussies batted knowing there was still 4.5 days left. Brilliant bowling from England as a team whereas the Aussies only had Starc who bold superbly ( helped at the end by poor batting) i assume his first ball in the second innings is a hat trick ball ?
| Th'Ashes Down Under on 12:41 - Nov 21 with 2023 views | D_Alien | I think it's important we give our all-pace attack more credit, rather than berating batsmen Our average speed of 87.6mph is apparently our fastest on record As Michael Vaughan has pointed out (and he knows a thing or two about deploying quicks to help win a series), this will have inflicted psychological damage on the Aussies. Getting hit, hard, by deliveries can take its toll, and lead to wickets. With Labuschagne's wicket, we got both the dismissal and a nasty blow on the elbow | |

99 run lead at lunch. If we're still batting at the end of today then any lead over 300 is going to take some getting. Crawley was out to a great catch, didn't do much wrong with that shot. Edit..England batsman imploding again, ridiculous shots from Pope, Brook and Root. So lazy. [Post edited 22 Nov 5:26]
