There's lots going round on social media that an associate of Pato was at the game yesterday and said an offer was put in to buy the club last week.

With the help of AI, I've identified them to be Joao Vitor Xavier. Can't find much about them online other than that they have been engaging in Colchester United related social media posts since late last year.

According to Google, someone of that name is becoming CEO of CNN ESportes TV channel in Brazil?

That's a different person.

According to people that were present at Crewe, the Brazilians had looked at a fair few clubs previously and plumped with the U's. By all accords, they are a six man consortium.

They consulted fans on their thoughts of a potential takeover and let slip that they placed a bid last Thursday, but rather interestingly are not the only ones who have made a bid to the club...

The Brazilians certainly seem keen, but I am not sure what Mr Cowling would think of such behaviour as guardians as the club. Seeing how quiet he has been in the last few years, he may not like that they are trying to getting ahead of themselves to get fans on board whilst there are other consortiums bidding. Although, maybe better in person than a cheap GoDaddy website...

Interesting times ahead of us.

Deal off 😔

If you look at the detail in the statement, it looks like the offer was rejected.

Possibly a shame, but I absolutely believe Robbie when he says that he will only agree to a deal that is right for Colchester United (and yes, of course his asking price). He has too much financial and emotional investment in Colchester United just to take a quick and easy exit if he genuinely didn't believe it was the right deal. I think the artist formerly known as... might disagree(?), but when we're in League 1 they'll be queuing around the block.

Based on recent events, I’d give the main man the benefit of the doubt at the moment, but like the UK’s water, electricity, newspapers etc. etc. I would rather the U’s remained in British ownership, than be hawked around the world ‘Taken’ style, but only time will tell whether it’s for the better.

As for queuing around the block, I guess like everything, it depends on the asking price.

Why didn’t I think of this when the recent takeover was upon us?

As some amongst us think the main man is a C#ÂŁ%, having a Brazilian would have been a natural progression.

I wonder what “will only agree to a deal that is right for Colchester United” actually means? I fear that after nearly 20 years of failure, MrC cannot let go and is looking for someone who will continue with his philosophy? Is a guarantee that the Cat 2 academy will remain a prerequisite for a sale?

If you spend a king’s ransom on a Range Rover, you wouldn’t take kindly if the garage told you how you could or couldn’t drive it.

No real surprise this bid was rejected.

I feel they got a little bit too far ahead of themselves making the bid public. Found it strange they only submitted the one bid, but then the chap at Crewe mentioned other parties in the running and can only assume they do not have the same level of wealth as the other bidders.

The statement for sure was not an RC statement either. For sure he wants to sell and hopefully there is some more news in the next couple of months.

It would be nice if it could all be sorted in time for next season, but in the meantime we can be grateful that there is no apparent rush or threat of administration.

Would be nice if he could have a day at Wembley before he goes.

Who'd buy a football club eh?

The following will give you a better picture of what's going on.

You don't really need to read beyond "The accounts also show a new £1.3m management charge from the club’s owners" to see what's going on.

Oh what fun we have to look forward to!
