I was lucky enough to be at that Wright debut match, which turned out to be a fantastic away day, from the least likely of circumstances. With us trailing 1-0, down to 10 men and Ian Wright just about to take a penalty in front of us, I'm sure everyone in the Away end expected another City Ground hammering. Of course, Wright hit the post, our chants of Ian W**K, W**k, W**k were amplified up to 11 and we managed an unlikely second half equaliser from a well-taken Karl UnReady goal. A totally unexpected result, which felt like a victory, meant an enjoyable journey home and another great away day memory. | |
