Sorry if already covered elsewhere (Spackman me now) but how the hell did the officials give the OK on us wearing that kit??

Let alone both teams wearing black shorts, I thought refs insisted shorts colours had to be different?

We just should have worn the home shirt, blue shorts and blue socks. Or even the 3rd kit.

And then we'd only have lost 3-0

The kit clash was so stupid, at least 3 times in the first half we thought a pass was on for a QPR player wide and it was a Southampton one, was obvious the kit clash was an issue.

Southampton's shirt has a white back, and our white would - apparently - be too much of a clash.

It's always noisiest at the shallow end

The ref could have said he and his officials had difficulty distinguishing and insisted on Southampton wearing their yellow away strip.

It’s about the 3rd or 4th time this season that that pink and black kit has been worn but it has certain similarities to our opponent .
Just because half the shirt doesn’t clash doesn’t mean the other half doesn’t .

From the right , our players at a glance last night looked similar to red and white and black shorts .
All very well having these ‘fancy designs’ but if we can’t play against a team in red and white , with 3 kits available to choose from without a bit of a colour clash then something has gone wrong hasn’t it ?

A pet hate of mine, especially when teams play in a 2nd kit when there is no need. If I recall correctly a few years ago Norwich wore a dark (possibly black) strip instead of green and yellow. I am a bit of traditionalist but unless there is a massive clash the first kit should always prevail.

But how else are we going to shift all those 2nd kit shirts?

I think we've nearly always played at Southampton in our home kit so why did they bother changing it last night?

Just saying.... they're not going to sell many black kits if they never wear it.

Yup, have at least three kits, change them as frequently as you can, make a video drip feed glimpses, create a 'buzz' and maximise income. Then spend the season badge kissing and waxing lyrical about the fans and how special they are. Modern commercial football, so authentic!

Explains why we didn’t make a tackle all night, frightened of taking out one of our own in error.

I'm using this excuse to account for Walsh not getting to a few things because he thought it was his own player trying to get the ball away.

I think this was a case of our club's commercial stupidity over practicality and sense.

Never knowingly right.

Agree it's been really noticeable how often this has happened this season. I'm assuming that it's not quite as big a problem on the pitch? Not sure.

There was an occasion years ago away at Newcastle, sat up in that little corner about 4 miles from the pitch, where I genuinely couldn't tell the teams apart because we were I think in black and blue, and Newcastle were in something similar. Absolutely ridiculous.

Think that errea designed that kit as a tribute to the 75/76 away shirt.
Why, oh, why, didn't they make it red and white halves like back then?
There would have been no kit clash, as it would have been immediately ruled out.
None of the kits this year resembled those of 75/76.
Next season is the 60th anniversary of the season we won our one and only major trophy.
In designing next season's kits to celebrate that historic event, I shudder to think what errea will come up with.
Hopefully, they won't have Italy's answer to Jean Paul Gautier designing them.

If you go to a ground dressed as a Bassett's Allsort you get what you deserve!

Please club and Errea 26/27 traditional blue and white hooped home kit with hooped sleeves and blue hoop on shoulders and Denise the Menace away kit, again with hooped sleeves.

It's not rocket science and you'll sell a lot!

Never knowingly right.

Why wasn't the G&W hoops worn?

Not sure whether, and if so, we've worn it that much this season, but it's a decent enough kit.

5-0 actually a pretty good result given Southampton had 21 players on the pitch. Actually Walsh may have been their best player so let's make it the full 22.

I commented and even emailed the club before the end of last season that the kits should honour the 75/76 season, but the pink and black monstrosity does not do that.

It was worn at Coventry and maybe on another occasion so far.

It was an obvious clash. The Dennis the Menace kit is a complete contrast from our home kit. Just stick with that and stop pissing about.

Still, I remember a kit at the end of the 90s where our away shirt was dark blue? That was pretty dumb.

Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore.

2009ish we wore navy blue up at Newcastle for a midweek fixture. Now, all day on the lash in Newcastle, combined with being a couple of nautical miles away from the pitch, I didn't have a clue who was who.

And it was still not as bad as Tuesday night

im sure the ruling is SOCKS MUST not be the same, shorts are ok.
i struggled, with my worsening eyes , to distinguish between the teams . thing is we could have worn any colours and still get dicked. we were woeful .

I was watching on tv and there were several occasions where it was difficult to distinguish the two teams.

Errea only manufactures the kits.

They don’t ‘design’ them

EFL should mandate that main/home shirt MUST be worn at an away game unless there is an obvious clash. Shorts should be treated as a separate item, should never clash and the away team change short colour if necessary.

I don't think our blue and white hoops clash with anybody except Reading and they look obviously different to say Brum's blue or Swan's white BUT we could wear our away shirt if deemed necessary in those circumstances.

Most importantly, we should wear hoops against stripey teams. We should have wore home shirt and home shorts against Saints. Dunno what the club or the officials were playing at really.
