Tonda Eckert Set To Get More Time But Are Saints Biding Their Time For Their Man To Be Available
at 17:42:46

You may be right Nick. Where else would he go and we may be the ideal next project for him.
Spurs play at Newcastle tonight though, not at the weekend so if they get stuffed and lose at the weekend then he may be gone this time next week.
We have also cleared out the assistants and back room staff ready for a top manager with his own team..people can laugh but there aren’t many better options outside the Prem than us.

Southampton At Millwall The Preview
at 11:09:29

I half expect to see Stephens back in for Quarshie and Braggy to start again with Ori coming on after 70 mins when we’re 3-0 up. Scienza is ill so maybe the 3rd change will be Robbo back in for him, we will need his pace and skill without Leo.
No reason why we can’t get at least a draw today and hope to then hear the announcement of a 3.5 year contract for Eckert. I don’t care how inexperienced he is as a manager, he has been involved enough is clearly intelligent as well as having an edge.
Fingers crossed for 3 more points!

Tremendous again. Tonda has done a lot more than just organise us and keep a stable line up. He’s quite simply ‘got it’. It’s a no brainer to give him the job, nothing will change whether he’s interim or full time. He knows what he’s doing and the players know it.. you don’t hit 4 on the bounce straight off the bat in this league unless you’re have all the tools. Can’t wait to see him announced as our manager. Best we’ve played since Ralph for sure..

Southampton At Charlton Athletic The Verdict
at 09:54:27

Jones wasn’t the worst manager we had, he did win away at Palace in the FA Cup then beat City at home 2-0 in the other cup, a major shock, then he won away at Goodison for our first win there since Kevin Davies. I think he was mainly disliked because of his valleys accent. Yes he wasn’t the right man but he was better than Selles, Juric and Rusk and wouldn’t have done any worse than Martin in the PL. But I get the humour and the banter due to some of his interviews, which were awful.
I think you have to give the job to Eckert, he clearly has a plan and strategy and is bringing the best out of our new signings as well as knowing which youth players he can trust. When Brighton put in Hurzeler, he has only had one decent season with Pauli, getting them promoted, I can see Eckert doing the same. We would be foolish to lose him now, the players clearly like him.
Just a quick mention to Bragg who was involved and important in the game, a great first start to remember. Jander is top drawn for me and Fellows and Azaz looked to be settled and moving forwards now after a Still start.
The next 2 games will show us if Tonda is indeed the man, if we pick up another 4 points then he has to be offered the job.

Southampton V Sheffield Wednesday The Preview
at 10:20:55

He probably won’t play 2 centre backs because he’s hinted that.. another who will concede the midfield to a weaker team. Why we are still deploying counter attacking football against worse teams is beyond me..
And we don’t even have any wing backs and we’re stifling the ability of Fellows. Manning is utterly clueless as a wing back. It’s madness all round.
Gary ONeil plays the same system, if we employ that skate to carry on the same stupidity then SR are clearly a deep state operation brought here to destroy the mighty Southampton FC. It can’t be him.
I hope we can scrape another win today and entice someone who plays attacking football, not the opposite. We looked so nervous at the end on Wednesday hopefully we have got that monkey off the back now.

Southampton At Blackburn Rovers The Verdict
at 19:13:31

We put in place a 32 year old who hasn’t played the game, has zero experience in English football and we were expecting him to manage a team with aspirations of returning to the biggest and toughest league in the world… it was madness in hindsight.
I agree we shouldn’t have given new contracts to McCarthy and Stephens, we desperately needed a new keeper and a decent striker like Thomas Asante. The board and Spors have not delivered anything like the quality we need with half of the purchases. We play a wing back system with no wing backs in the squad and Still doesn’t think the issue is the system yet we are constantly overrun in midfield by inferior teams. Each game has become so predictable and the decisions become stranger and more harmful by the week.
I think there are far better options out there for us than Still, he’s clearly out of his depth and it’s a step too early in his career.

Juventus Said To Be Interested In Southampton Sporting Director
at 16:52:39

His recruitment has been inconsistent I would say. Roerslev, Quarshie, Azaz and Downs have not looked the part. Jander, Scienza and Fellows have shown what they can do.
If I was Spors, I would be off, clearly the historically corrupt Juve will be more attractive than staying here.
I would add that his failure to bring in a good keeper and appropriate centre forward has been a nightmare but the manager has to take much of the blame for how some of the new guys have struggled to settle. The formation and tactics have crested a loss of confidence and direction which has impacted the likes of Downs and Azaz in particular. Playing with 3 attackers is farcical given our so called ambition. Not surprising they’ve lost their confidence up top.
Spors for me has not done a good job but then neither did Juric or Martin and they were handed top jobs. I think we need a DoF who understands what is required to play in the physical, aggressive and quick English football, we still lack pace and physicality so are struggling with that as well and this is down to the owners, board and DoF, I wish they would all go!

A Rough Guide To Blackburn Rovers

Not going, ticket in the bin. Not spending 8 hours in a car and loads on petrol to see 8 defenders on the pitch and a clueless manager still supported by a load of snowflakes. No pun intended.
I’m done with the stupidity and negativity with how he sets us up.

Southampton At Bristol City The Verdict
at 17:34:38

We played with 8 defensive minded players and 3 attacking minded players last night. Easily overrun in the midfield in the second half. The system doesn’t suit and Still persists with it. I’m sick and tired of hearing about trauma and last season and all the other nonsense. He obviously doesn’t know what trauma is.. 3 centre backs leaves us short in midfield and one less skilful user of the ball. We bought players to change the psychology and they sit on the bench. We are not drilled, let alone well drilled. We lack quality chances created giving a misleading statistics and our decision making is poor. We don’t stop crosses from coming in and switch off leaving opponents unmarked, so what is the point anyway in having so many defenders on the pitch? It’s so easy to give us the ball and wait for one of our too many clumsy defenders on the pitch to screw up and concede a goal. Sadly these are basics and we can’t get the basics right. The calm mentality the players are told to adapt removes any hunger, desire and aggression from the mindset and one goal kick from McCarthy epitomised that. He lazily took the kick and wouldn’t have looked out of place if her have fallen over and gone to sleep after kicking it. This guy should be running out of his box pointing and screaming at players but he leans against the post, chewing gum etc. These grown men paid tens of thousands a week to play football need a rocket up their arses and need to man up! Spill some blood for the shirt and leave the bullshit trauma behind, it’s pathetic. But the truth is they lack all this and the belief because they are poorly led and this is because the manager is out of his depth, as are Sports Republic. Until they go, we will be stuck in Championship or League 1 obscurity. The happy clappers really need to wake up and smell the roses. The aim for the end of the season was promotion, not stability, that just shows how deep the malaise and negativity runs. Still us the wrong man, sadly.

I’m expecting 7 at the back and 3 in midfield as this manager has bottled playing an attacking formation with his 60 million of new assets sat on the bench while persisting with someone up top who wasn’t good enough to get in West Brom’s team earlier this year.
So disappointed with how he keeps setting us up. He is the one shackling us and perpetuating the so called trauma. Utterly ridiculous, getting paid 50k a week to play football and he calls it trauma! This is a weak minded outlook and it’s November next week, no more excuses, he must play an attacking formation with one of if not the strongest squad in the league. Time is up.

Still doesn’t have a philosophy, this is a problem for building a style of play that players can get used to. It’s no wonder they look lost most of the time. I don’t expect him to pick the right formation or personnel so I am not expecting an easy game or a win.
You can say all you want about Armstrong hitting form, 2 games ago he missed with an awful penalty and his team play has been terrible, constantly losing possession. He wasn’t good enough for West Brom last season so I’m not surprised to see our position in the league when we are utilising players who are mid table championship players, which is what most of our squad is. We haven’t replaced Ings or Adams and have gambled with cheap options which have unsurprisingly backfired.
Playing Stewart at Derby was plain stupid after 2 intense games in 3 days. Surely we didn’t buy Scienza, Azaz and Fellows for the bench?
Our real problem is playing 3 at the back, it doesn’t work, it’s negative and gives the oppo the midfield domination. Still is clueless so far, I hope this changes quickly.

Constant Re-Shuffling Is The Cause Of Southampton's Problem's
at 13:47:23

I can’t disagree with any of the points in this article and in some ways that is quite damning. I think we need to see how the next week goes, where we should be looking at 7 points minimum, probably 9. We do have the strongest looking squad but too much quantity. We should have paid the money for Spertsyan but as with the Rohl payoff, we’d rather waste our money on gambles. Now we are also, desperately, a striker short.

Danny Rohl Turns Down Rangers And Stirs Up Southampton Rumours
at 13:32:56

I don’t see why you would give any manager 2 years despite results. I like Still the person, but I don’t see a blueprint or much logic in his decisions or set up. We keep playing 3 centre backs and 2 wing backs which is a counter attacking system, not possession and domination. We have not been good at pressing and he has dropped Archer after ge scored a couple of goals and looked sharp. I am yet to see any signs that Still has a plan.
Our recruitment is half good half woeful as we continue to sign players who are not good enough and then freeze out a player who has looked the part in the game he played. So I am very confused as to the pathway forwards and I personally don’t see that changing. I hope Still proves me wrong.
Also we would have to pay him a load in compensation so we may as well have paid off the Owls in the first place. Unfortunately our club is run by clowns.

Southampton At Sheffield United The Verdict
at 11:38:18

Fellows fell victim of the problem we had on the other side of the pitch where Manning and Armstrong gave us no width in attack, this meant the blades could doubt up on Fellows. Stewart dug Armstrong out of a hole last night, as mentioned before the game, how many opportunities win be missed before Armstrong gets a goal, last night showed that. Why is he still taking the penalties when he keeps missing them? Stewart should take them.
The best player in the last 3 games has been, without a doubt, Jander.. what a fantastic player we have managed to grab there.. he didn’t even get a mention by the total saints podcast on Sunday so I don’t know what games they watched..? He is the difference maker in the midfield, what a player.
My frustration with Manning playing as a left wing back boiled over as he gave us absolutely nothing in attack. A good left back but clueless with the ball at his feet in the oppos half and this will be to our detriment moving forward. He hasn’t once got to the byline or made a run inside and that is the purpose of wing backs when attacking. Not his fault, a good left back but not a wing back by any stretch.
McCarthy although someone I struggle to see as a solid keeper, nearly gave away a goal because of dithering with the ball at his feet but he pulled off a wonder save from OHare in the second half after the defence switched off from a free kick.
Assume Fraser is being punished for gobbing off about his team mates after the Hull game, why can’t he keep his mouth shut!!? Wasn’t that why Eddie Howe wanted him gone from Bournemouth? We don’t need that sort of retraction from our desire to win games and finish top 2. This has to be addressed and squashed immediately or he can train with the kids imo.
Overall a better look in the last 2 games and a relief to see Stewy find his feet.
