Will Ayala & Fielding Stay At Rams? - Bad Boy Bowyer To Replace Sav?
Will Ayala & Fielding Stay At Rams? - Bad Boy Bowyer To Replace Sav?
Tuesday, 29th Mar 2011 10:23 by Daniel J Sewart

With the news Derby may have money to spend agents and players will begin to crawl out of the woodwork. At the same time the Rams have begun to look at keeping some of their more impressive loan signings.

The main name to surface was Lee Bowyer who was described in the press as a ready made replacement for Robbie Savage. But at 34 years of age and no doubt on big money that for me is the only similarity. I for one hope this is a case of Lee’s manager looking for a big pay day.

As far as him being a Robbie Savage replacement, Sav is a pantomime villain but Bowyer has often in his career been a genuine villain.

In terms of building and pushing for top flight football I think the Rams would do well to look for focused, talented players who are not past their prime.

Plus with a group of young players that we hope to kick on in their development, setting a good example for them is imperative.

For me Sav ticked many of those boxes but Lee Bowyer ticks very few.

What about you?

Fielding And Ayala Staying In 11/12?

There is much speculation that two of the Rams better performers this season will be again lining up for Derby next season.

The first of those is Daniel Ayala and there has been no doubt a partnership that included both Shaun Barker and himself would be welcomed back for the whole of 11/12.

Derby again has openly stated they would like to sign the player either permanently or in a more likely scenario, on a season long loan next campaign.

Nigel Clough was again making no secret of his desire to keep Ayala when he spoke to the DET:

“Is there a possibility we could see him back on loan next season? We are going to make that inquiry; certainly, we will be speaking to Liverpool to see if there is any possibility of that happening. The only thing is that they don't usually make those decisions until August.”

"We need some players in before that and we certainly need another centre-half in. Daniel has shown us enough during his time here and we would like to take him as a loan as well next season."

Along with Ayala many media reports have made it clear Frank Fielding wants a permanent move to the club hence he has stuck around to train with the team for the rest of the season.

Coupled with the fact that Nigel has already stated he would like to sign him permanently mean it should be an easy decision.

The only issues that could be a problem are what fee Blackburn will want for the player, other clubs may have been alerted to Fielding because of his form for the Rams and finally if Rovers were relegated they may decide he is a required Championship player.

As the Rams build and hopefully invest in quality next season I personally cannot think of a better foundation than starting with Fielding and Ayala.

There was a great manager who always said you have to build from the back and it seems that his son may have decided to take that advice.
