Norwich v QPR Betting Preview
Norwich v QPR Betting Preview

The lads are back to look ahead to the Norwich game and for value elsewhere in the weekend markets, and things are starting to look up a bit on the profit front as well.

Profits all round last week. A big win on the accumulator for Brian has completely wiped out his debt for the season and he is now £8.54 in profit. Andy is heading in the right direction too, £189.25 in debt now but making a profit for the last two weeks. The pro tipped Shaun Wright Phillips as an any time goalscorer at Stoke and was the width of a post away from landing that.

Back to back profits for me for the first time in as long as I can remember! QPR’s magnificent win against Stoke, coupled with Man U winning to nil as recommended against Swansea offset Van Persie not scoring first against Norwich (something that I entirely blame Per Mertesacker for, the bloody super tanker of a central defender!) My accumulator also let me down from an unlikely source, as Rangers failed to win at home against some pub team from St Johnstone, but as it was a single leg that let me down, the bet is free (for the third week in a row!) leaving me £25 up on the week.

This week we’re away at Norwich, our first game against any of the two teams that came up with us last season. Norwich of course were cruelly denied the Championship title last season by virtue of us cheating, and nothing to do with the fact that we scored more points than them over the 46 games. With the new gutsy QPR that we’re seeing you’d fancy us to get something at Norwich, despite the fact that we generally never do well there. The straight win is available at 5/2, but the Draw No Bet option at 6/4 probably appeals more. An interesting statistic is that Norwich have not kept a clean sheet once all season. For those of you who fear the Lloyd Doyley effect, a Norwich win to nil is available at 11/4.

Super Heidar Helguson, currently 5 in his last 5 in the league, is 8/1 to score first, and 12/5 to score anytime, I’ll have a fiver ready and waiting to stick on the anytime goal scorer market if he makes the starting XI on Saturday.

Elsewhere, the Van Persie show hosts Fulham this weekend. He’s come in to 3/1 for first goal scorer with Paddy Power, and is on course to be odds on to score first before the end of the year! Incidentally, Paddy Power are offering a refund on most losing bets if (when?!) Van Persie scores first - might be worth a look.

Finally, my accumulator, and it’s a cheeky sixfold this week, which I’ve gone for Arsenal, Celtic, Rangers, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan. A tenner there nets at very respectable 12/1 with Victor Chandler, the odds artificially increased as Inter are 6/4 at Siena, overpriced in my opinion for a team clearly back on the ascendancy - I reckon that there’s money to be made on Inter in the next few weeks…

For the weekend:

Norwich vs. QPR - QPR to win, DNB - £15 @ 6/4 (Skybet)

If Fit: Heidar Helguson to score anytime £5 @ 12/5 (Bet365)

Arsenal vs. Fulham - Van Persie to score first - £10 @3/1 (PaddyPower)

Accumulator - Arsenal, Celtic, Rangers, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan to win - £10 @12/1 (Victor Chandler)

The winning return of the footie acca plus Bristol City's win at Millwall meant a return of £210.34 last week. Let's hope the good run continues.

The trip to Norwich should hold no worries but our recent record is poor. 11/5 is on offer for the win but I will go for the correct score of 2-1 to us and as he is in form Heidar is the obvious choice.

There is some decent racing this weekend at Newbury and Newcastle. The big one is the Hennessey at Newbury and Paul Nicholls and Ruby Walsh have the favourite but I will go for the second Nicholls horse Michel le Bon and a reverse forecast on the two of them.

At Newcastle in the fighting fifth Nicholls also has Celestial Halo who goes up against hot favourite Binocular. After Kauto Star’s performance last week I hope the Nicholls team will deliver the goods.

Chelsea's current issue is a delight to all of us and the pressure is on them. Wolves are the visitors and are worth a small bet at 14/1 to win even if it means you can rub the slip in the face of any Chelsea fans and remind them of the result at Loftus Road a few weeks ago. I was going to put Wolves up but will have a £5 on Orient to beat Sheff Wed. Over the past 6 games there isn't alot between the teams so the 9/2 is appealing.

Finally I won a tenner off a workmate as he bet I couldn't name a landmark in Egypt. I told him that's what you sphinx. Good luck.

The Pro

Professional odds compiler Owen Goulding offers his thoughts ahead of the Norwich trip.

A coat of post paint stopped us copping on the Shaun Wright Phillips bet of the weekend last week , but I for one, did not mind one bit once that final whistle went. This week we travel to East Anglia. The loss of Joey Barton may be significant and Norwich will be looking forward to this one as much as QPR. The prices currently available for the match look about right with Norwich very slight favs - I could of been interested in playing QPR had Barton not been suspended, but there are a couple of prices that do look interesting. 19/20 with Ladbrokes for over 2.5goals looks a gimme and in the goal scorer market, I like the look of Armand Traore opening his account at 16/1 with Titanbet. So for my bet of the weekend, I recommend backing over 2.5 Goals at 19/20 at Ladbrokes. I also recommend three small bets on Traore to score first last and anytime at 40/1, 40/1 and 16/1 respectively.
