Mounted Police spotted at ER on Saturday....for a Jehovahs Witness Convention! Sunday, 15th Jul 2012 00:14 I was confronted with several surprises on Saturday when I visited the club shop to buy a shirt for my son's birthday. A swarm of smartly dressed folk were milling around the stadium. According to the Huddersfield Daily Examiner around 12,000 Jehovah's Witnesses were expected at Elland Road for their annual convention this weekend. However I was more shocked to spot two mounted Police horses (pictured) trotting up Lowfield's Road towards Elland Road? Surely an unnecessary expense and bad use of resources. I know Jehovah's Witnesses may not be highly regarded in so-called "mainstream society" but I don't feel they pose that much of a threat to public-order, nor did I see gangs of vigilantes queing up to attack them! It sure did reinforce my hope that Leeds United do win their case against West Yorkshire Constabulary over the ridiculously high costs and over zealous policing for events at Elland Road.
