Why Should It Happen?

Okay, I'll make this straight at the beginning. I haven't seen any highlights from the Doncaster game. I was not at the Doncaster game. My Saturday football watching experience was spent actually watching another Premiership official in Uriah Rennie take charge of a dire affair between Swindon Town and Blackpool. That aside, I write this based on the comments I received from someone who was at the game.

Now this can be a family site at times so maybe I won't use the full expression that I was given but the suggestion for Dermot Gallagher was something to do with Darkened Rooms, Behinds and Bisons. I wouldn't like to elaborate at this point!

But thinking about it why did we have the bald one yesterday? Well it was because he put in a bad performance the week before in the Premiership. He upset the friend of the referees in Arsene Wenger so he got booted off the Premiership list for a week. But such is the disdain that the Football Association have for Coca Cola league clubs they decided that his punishment was to referee a game at that level.

I cannot possibly figure this one out. I mean, if a referee is not up to the scratch of refereeing a game then surely it doesn't matter whether it is Park football or Premiership football? It is an insult to say "Ah, he's not good enough for Arsenal but good enough for Doncaster v Swansea" Why? Is he now only good enough for Conference South next week?

It just doesn't make any sense at all. And why should it be allowed to happen. Either he referees in the Premiership or he doesn't referee at all. No doubt somewhere someone would say "Millions at stake in the Premiership" but other than money there is just the same at stake in the lower leagues.

Can you imagine this situation ever appearing in reverse. Tony Blair would have been on the soapbox long ago joined no doubt by Anne Robinson and some other halfwit celebrities who think that by backing football they will increase in popularity. Of course it will never happen but if it could it would never be allowed to so why should it happen in reverse.

And so onto the burning issue

Should Premiership refs be 'demoted' to the coca Cola Leagues after a bad performance? Leave your views below - your comments will be added automatically
