Garry Monk is reported to be doubtful for the opening of the Swans season with a foot injury

The Swansea City captain may find himself sidelined when his team mates take to the field against Manchester City with the injury that he picked up at the end of last season.

And this is leading Brendan Rodgers to target another centre back having already secured the services of Steven Caulker on loan from Tottenham.

And the Western Mail reports that Monk could miss a few of the Swans opening games but has still been offered a new deal to extend his contract at the Liberty Stadium.

The Western Mail report "The exact nature of the injury is not clear, but it is understood to have come close to wrecking his chances of even playing at Wembley in the play-off final against Reading, undergoing painkilling injections before taking to the field and leading the side to a promotion-sealing victory."
