Taylor is part of a Swansea City trio representing GB at the upcoming Olympics - he is joined by Joe Allen and Scott Sinclair to make the Swans the most represented club in the 18 man squad.

It’s been incredible really, I’m on a bit of a wave at the moment and I’ll just try and ride it and go with it,” said Taylor.

“I’ll try to take it all in my stride but being part of the opening ceremony and playing in the Games is going to be the pinnacle of representing Great Britain at the Olympics.

“It’s difficult to take it all in and believe this is all happening – but it’s going to be right up there with my other achievements.

“I didn’t really think about targeting the Olympics, you just have to do well for the whole season to be in contention and stay injury-free.

“But I always wanted to be involved and knew I had a chance if I played the full season at Swansea.

“We had a good season and that’s why a few of our players have been picked.

“It’s great recognition for the club, it shows the stamp of what we’re about,” said Taylor.

“We did great in the Premier League last year and the way we play obviously works for the players.

“We’ve all benefited from it and it was a great season to finish 11th.

“The Olympics squad is great recognition for the Welsh players,” maintained Taylor. “It shows the strength of Welsh football because the manager (Pearce) had Scottish and Northern Irish players as well as other English players to choose from as well.

“So for him to put us in and give Wales so much recognition is great for us as a nation.

“We’ve got five players involved as part of Team GB and I think we’ve got a great chance.

“It’s a really exciting challenge to pit ourselves against some of the best players in the world.”
