Another away game, another defeat and things are starting to look desperate for QPR.

1- The Match
Well as everyone knows by now the result did not do us any favors, against a team that has not scored in a long time then they go and put two past us. The match began well with QPR all over the Tractor Boys with a few good chances. You could tell from the opening few minutes why Ipswich had been so bad this season. Chances came and went, which was the story of the game. Ipswich dug in and started to create some openings and could have scored but their luck in front of goal was the same as ours. You have all heard about the ref and Rowlands taking corners, I will say no more. Overall two bad teams playing for points that they needed so it was not pretty to watch.

2- Rangers' Performance
At times I wonder if the team train with each other during the week as at times the passing, movement and understanding between players is non-existent. Quick free kicks, instead of getting it into the box is fine if you are a few goals up and only a few minutes to go. Lomas took one in the second half to Mancienne who knew nothing about it while everyone was waiting in the box. Hair pulling out time again. Rowlands had a chance in the first half on the edge of the box which he turned one way then the other then back again before getting tackled. Hit it just hit it was the feeling around me. Chance after chance but no killer punch. Jones held the ball up but other than that not much return from a potential Premiership player; if only he turned with the ball and had a run with it which would make the centre backs think a bit more and stand off him a bit. The boys at the back were not on their game, half hearted headed clearances and a hoof instead of a simple pass, the ball was like a hot potato at times. The players in the same shirt are the ones you are meant to pass to - which is what I was told when I was younger and time on the ball is something you create not given.

3- Rangers' Support
Overall the fans gave the team as much support as was possible before a few could give no more. Once again the thousand or so Rangers fans out sang 20 odd thousand Ipswich fans. Good singing throughout the game until the second half when the 'we won't win with one up front' and 'you don't know what you are doing'. Some joined in some didn't. I was lucky enough to have live commentary through the game by the bloke sitting behind me, 10 times better than anything on Sky or the BBC. "We are the Rangers boys, stand up and make some noise" also had a good airing during the match. Good banter between the fans with everyone throwing in there 2 pence worth. What goes on the field is where it counts for 90 minutes, lets remember that. Come on you Rssss.

4 - The Ground
We went into the club shop before the game to burn a few minutes, and was surprised that it looks out onto the pitch. Got us wondering if you were skint could you stand there pretend to buy something and watch the match? As a ground the view from the upper tier was good, but the further back you went there were pillars in the way that supported the roof. Service in the ground was spot on, the staff knew what they were doing which make a change. Toilets were straight forward enough clean and enough of them. Still no bookies this year except for a dodgy Ipswich in a Ladbrokes jacket which made you wonder whether he was official or chancing his arm.

5 - Atmosphere
If it was not for the away fans, you would think that you were at a funeral. Even the home fans in the stand next to us, you would think would sing a song or two when they were 2-1 up, but nothing. Only a few fans giving the normal hand signals, who you then saw leg it at full-time because that stand exits on to the away fans, brave. Well done to the stadium announcer who at the end of the game gave a big well done to Ipswich for winning 2-1, talk about rubbing it in.

6- Pre-Match
After coming out of the station it was a short trip across the road into the Station House which by the time we got there was filling up a bit. They served you in harden plastic glasses, which at least when you squeezed them meant you would not lose half a pint. The service was good until around 1.30 at which point it was around 4 deep at the bar, and if you were unlucky as I was, get stuck behind someone that was getting a round of drinks in for their whole family tree and then had to look for change and ask what flavour crisps they had, you were not going to get very merry. They did serve food but as you would have guessed by now no time or patience to try it.

A few beers while watching Liverpool v Man Utd left at around 2pm to make the short hop across the road to the ground. Had a burger at a van outside the ground, good enough that it did not come back to visit me until the next morning always a good sign. Into the ground to have a few Carlings and a chinwag with a few regular faces.

7- The Journey
Left Liverpool St at 11:30 which seemed to be the train that most QPR fans were getting and was a trouble free journey. Up there in just over an hour. The highlight was watching my mate demolish his breakfast of Big Mac, fillet o' fish, cheeseburger, large fires, chocolate milkshake and then 2 of my chicken nuggets before cracking open the Stella's. The funny thing was watching the women sitting across the table from him trying not to get sick and looking around only to find there were no free seats for her to move to.

Journey home was straight forward back in Liverpool St on time. The kick in the nuts is that our tickets were never checked going out or coming back. What a waste.

8- Police/Stewards
People were standing at the back and the stewards did not seem to mind. I did however spot a little Hitler on the lower tier in a blue hat telling the kids not to stand up, what a big man. As everyone knows, there was a scuffle between QPR fans on the block beside us but other than that did not really see or hear from the police or stewards. At least the fans have fight, just a shame they couldn't channel it in a positive way to get behind the team. Down in the lower bar before the match the police did let us sing and bang on the walls and never stepped in. Overall they caused me and my mate no problems at all.
