QPR Announce First Two Summer Signings
Tuesday, 13th May 2008 11:18

Peter Ramage and Radek Cerny are the first two new signings of the summer, joining from Newcastle and Slavia Prague respectively.

The two players have been widely tipped to be joining the R's for some time and have today, both agreed terms with QPR.

Defender Peter Ramage has agreed a 3 year deal with the R's and worked his way up to the Newcastle first team through the youth ranks. He has been at St James Park since the age of 11 and was in the same youth team as Michael Chopra and Steven Taylor.

The 24 year old made just two appearances for the Magpies last year, in a season that was hampered by injury. He also found himself losing out to the new defensive recruits made by the then new manager Sam Allardyce. He was also not to be a first choice of the next manager Kevin Keegan, who replaced Allardyce in the middle of the season. It was reported that Keegan wanted to keep Ramage, but was unable to guarantee first team football, so the decision to move on was made by the young defender. He made 51 appearances in total for Newcastle.

Slavia Prague and Czech International goalkeeper Radek Cerny, joins the R's after an 18 month loan spell at Spurs, where he was chosen ahead of the very much, out of form England keeper, Paul Robinson, when Juande Ramos took over from Martin Jol.

The 34 year old stopper, who has agreed a 2 year deal with the R's, made 16 appearances for Spurs last season and eventually, went very public about his move to QPR soon after being replaced by Robinson following Spurs exit from the UEFA Cup.

LFW wishes good luck to both Peter and Radek and welcome to QPR
