The Red half of Hampshire will be happy to hear that according to a computer generated prediction, Saints & Pompey will not be playing in the same division next season !

The Daily Echo has picked up on the new supercomputer at aceodds.com has come up with some interesting results, to be honest very different from the opinions from many Southampton supporters on social media.

The prediction is that Saints will have a decent end to the season and finish in 5th place, behind Coventry & Ipswich who will go up automatically with Middlesbrough & Watford in 3rd & 4th and Millwall behind us in 6th.

It is predicted to be a close run thing, with Saints on 69 points & Leicester & Stoke missing out on 67 points, so a tight day up at Preston on the last day of the season who will be in a tightly packed top half of the table in 11th with 66 points.

Also good news if the computer is right with it's predictions is that Pompey will be going down, they will finish 3rd from bottom on 48 points, with Norwich & Charlton just 2 points above them.

The report also states that Saints have been given a zero per cent chance of suffering relegation, a 2.5 per cent chance of winning automatic promotion and a 41 per cent chance of finishing in the top six.

The hope is that Saints can find the form showed in the early days of Tonda Eckert's reign, from a positive viewpoint, we will do business in the transfer market, there will be some incoming players, that will hopefully boost our chances.

There is also the retuning players, Shea Charles was one of the few shining lights of Will Still's tenure and he has yet to play under Eckert, but is likely to do so soon.

Likewise Ross Stewart, before his injury he was in good form, but he too was missing during Tonda's golden start to his time in the dug out and only returned in the final minutes of the defeat at Middlesbrough when the game was already lost.

So there is a ray of hope for those predicting doom & gloom for the next few months, however as the old adage used to say, football is played on grass and not paper, this is the modern world and although we have FIFA 26 or whatever its called, so you can play a form of football on computer, I predict that not one game in the Championship will be switched from grass to a laptop.
