Dawson bid rejected

The media is reporting that Dale have rejected a bid from Middlesboro for the services of Player of the Season Craig Dawson.

Last weekend, it seemed like it was a done deal with reports all over the media linking Dawson with a move to Middlesboro for an initial fee of £750,000 rising to £2 million. However, this initial fee decreased as the week went on with an initial fee of £500,000 now being reported in many sections of the media.

All this speculation happened, whilst there were further links connecting Dawson with possible moves to either Spurs or Fulham.

So perhaps it wasn't entirely surprising that the next step in the Dawson story was that Dale have rejected the Middlesboro bid. Sky Sports News reported on Thursday afternoon that Dale had rejected the Smog Monsters' advances, with the thwarted bid now a reputed £400,000.

Competition for his signature may well have played a part in rejecting the Boro bid, who have been scouting Dawson for several months, with Chief Scout Gordon McQueen a regular at Dale games for some time.
