First of all, apologies on two counts: I was a bit pressed for time last night and so having arrived late I missed the start, but more importantly, was then in the "standing room only" at the back so I was pretty much unable to hear most of the questions that were put, and so I hope those who were better positioned will add to this thread with the Q&A's i'm not best placed to do

I asked three questions, here's a summary, and i very much paraphrase the answers:

Q: Does the club have the services of a specialist fitness coach, and if not, would it be worth employing one? (I should add that I initially referred to a "training coach" which caused some confusion in the panel until clarified)

A: Not unexpectedly, this was taken as perhaps a criticism of the players fitness, until CD intervened to add to KH's initially defensive reaction, reinforcing how fit he believed the squad were. (I then added it wasn't a criticism but a matter of interest, since other clubs employ a specialist). The mood changed after that, and it turns out we have a guy called Kevin Gibbons who oversees this area, and reference was made to GPS tracking and individual performance analysis, although KH said he thought maybe sports scientists had too much influence these days.

I was fine with that - it clarified where we stood and at least we now have a name (I'd never heard of Kevin Gibbons)

Q: There are huge posters around the town, advertising that "We're Ready" - I asked, So are We Ready? (I also added congratulations to the club for the vastly improved marketing)

A: After a bit of "what does Ready mean" KH settled into a fairly basic answer about preparations so i prompted him further by asking if he remained as excited by the start of a new season as ever. This is where things really took off (it'd been like a funeral up to this point) as he told us how he only got excited about two things - football and... it depended what was happening later that night! I added i hoped he'd got those two in the right order...
By this point, KH was getting into his stride

With plenty of other Qs & As in between these, my final question:

Q: Did his time managing Barnsley in the championship have any influence on how he went about managing Dale?

A: This is where it got interesting. First, KH referred to how he felt let down by unfulfilled promises made to him at Barnsley, and how during the course of a season things can become difficult, leaving him feeling a bit isolated. He was quick to point out how having RG at the club (RG was sat next to him) helped as someone he'd come to trust as a friend "who didn't want his job".

I followed up with "so if we went up, could he keep us up" and for me the best thing was how he went on to describe that he'd obviously be trying to do that but if not how we'd have to have a "managed relegation" to prevent freefall and stabilise to have another shot at it, quoting examples of clubs who were becoming adept at this such as Burnley in the premier league.

This was real insight into his thinking, imo, and perhaps an indication that he is prepared for the long haul at Dale. The aspect of planning for the championship/L1 added to his feeling of having exactly the right team, and board, around him which he emphasised was so very important to him

That's about the gist of what i was able to hear; as i said, please add to this if you were able to catch the other questions, of which there were plenty. Finally, thanks to the club for their time yesterday evening, plus the buffet!

Having now listened to the forum I thought it was very well presented. It offered an insight into the strategic planning of team dynamics and club infrastructure moving forward. The vision seemed clear and each question was answered honestly and professionally (with the exception of the done question, which was understandable given the timing).

Like or dislike Keith, his philosophy on the present game is quiet inspiring. He knows what he wants and how he would like to achieve it. Based on the information given it does sound like the cogs in the Rochdale wheel all seem to be turning in the right direction. Hopefully it continues to happen on the pitch and we have a successful season.

Great questions asked by the forum. I wonder if for the next one exile fans could have the opportunity to send through some online questions??

He didn't ask this question last year. There are many other bald fans. Do you really think £3.90 a pint is reasonable in Rochdale?

The question gets asked every year and it's embarrassing.

The price of beer is what it is. Why are so many pubs shutting throughout the country?

If you got to any concert or sporting event you have to expect to pay a premium price in 2017. You're not drinking down the local working men's club.

People have to remove their blinkers and get real to the world we now live in.

I expect KH was utterly bewildered by the line of questioning about beer prices.

To think he'd given up his evening too, knowing what we now know...

Wasn't there so can't comment on how questions were asked, but it's a fans forum and any question a fan believes is relevant, it is up to them if they want to ask it.

It's nothing at all to do with whether one particular member of the panel feels it applies to them. That has always been the case and always should be.

It's up to those answering to ensure it doesn't become a bigger issue and affect the evening.

This kind of acceptance reminds me of the dark ages when the big six took over brewing and served gnats **** at over-inflated prices, taking a strangle-hold over what pubs could offer.

Fast forward 30-40 years and the availability of different, quality beers has never been so good. The point most people have been making is that consumers vote with their feet. Of course if you "need" a drink at HT you have no choice. But excluding those 15 minutes, consumers will drink elsewhere if options are better and the club will miss out on trade.

That's the real (ale) world I live in anyway.

PS what's to stop the club trying a barrel of a good quality ale (DA mentioned the Rake as being good the other day) served by gravity at a "market" price (cemetery as a bench mark?)

Very unreasonable.

So long as the Club are happy for many supporters to use other cheaper, selling better quality drinks establishments, then fair enough. Until they sell better quality and a better price they won't maximise the tremendous opportunities they have of ownership of all of the licensed premises they have .

So which pub do you drink in when you going up to Rochdale??

The Rake and Cem are open every day. Will real ales keep in establishments that are only open occasionally?

So many pubs are shutting down you're absolutely spot on,a lot of thats down to price too, maybe we could buck the trend and stop overpricing beer rather than trying to spank a captive audience, standing a better chance of being successful longer term?

You can buy smaller barrels that might be able to be sold. Other options are to sell quality bottles of ales that are available.

If going for a drink before, depends where my friends are going. All the establishments offer either, cheaper or better quality drinks, sometimes at least as cheap or cheaper, and better quality.

One of the hopes when Dale took over the ownership of all of The licensed premises on the ground, was that they would make them more attractive for people to use by improving the cost and or the quality of the drink available. From what I know, neither has occurred.

I really don't understand why it's such an irritating question. There were some utterly ludicrous questions asked, and you pick out this one. For example the question about regretting selling Matt Done in the first place. Now that's embarrassing.

A firkin is 9 gallons or 72 pints. If ordered with enough time to settle it should be doable. It can be kept cool with wet towels like the ancients did, or even a water cooling jacket could be acquired if it catches on. You'll never know if it could be a success unless you try.

At £2.65/pint last season the social club takes some beating.
