New venue for pre-match scoops? 15:58 - Mar 16 with 5296 viewsDaleiLama

Looks interesting. And feedback from locals gratefully received in due course. Anyone sampled their beers already?

Nice to see town centre pubs opening up. I miss the blue lounge. A shithole but what a shithole

The link says "was built in 1923 by the post service’s main architect, Sir Charles Wilkinson, and features a beautiful Baroque-style façade."
Charles Wilkinson may have been the architect of this building but the local building firm of R & T Howarth actually built it.

There weren't many public buildings in the town that R & T's didn't build over a 50 year period.

Yeah I go to their bar in Whitworth pretty regularly. The Manchester ale is by far the most popular , the toffee ale is a bit like Marmite you either love it or hate it. Any of the darker ales suit me. but I,ve yet to sample the stouts

300k on the refit on top of other costs and financial commitments. You have to applaud the guts involved in doing that and I wish them every possible success.

Let's hope they prosper with all that loot outlay........like the Flying Horse,if they sponsor the Dale in any way I think as fans we should patronise their business too.????

Apologies Lama, didn't see this thread before I posted.

I.ve done a bit of work for John and Caroline and saw the finished article today.

Love the fact that it will cater for everyone, including coffee shop and food in the coming weeks.

It looks smashing, it really does :-)

Great to see a Rochdale landmark being put to use

And tbh, i can't think of a better use than serving local real ale!

Best of luck the tap!

Any new investment in the town is welcome and should be applauded.

Looking forward to visiting soon.

Got a little real ale vibe the town now with a lovely little route taking in the Baum / regal moon / wheatsheaf and flying horse!

Hopefully more to follow.

Anyone tried this place last night?

Info on quality of ale and what they're charging for a pint of the local ales appreciated

If they're asking more than £3 a pint it'll have to be special, when you can get a really good pint in Spoons for £2.29 or less, plus free wi-fi

Went into a camra pub near Charing Cross during the Wembley trip - pint of bitter and pint of lager £10.55

Was a bloody great atmosphere though!

Had a bottle of IPA in Los Iguanas - 4.7% = £4.75/330ml. Rounded up to a pint that's about £8.20. It was in a restaurant. but .........

(Did you have a note from the mum of the person drinking a pint of lager?)

Up the Dale - NOT for sale!

In a way, yes - it was my nephew, who we stayed over with!

It's the combo of venue, location, staff wages etc but if the quality's there I don't begrudge

Probably not a great night for the opening, yesterday
