Comment by Vale chairman Norman Smurthwaite: (arf)

"Sadly the project we undertook is not working..."

When you've got L1 chairmen coming out with such utter shit (and he's not the only one, of course) is it any wonder their clubs are in trouble?

Keep it real. Keep it like Dunphy.

Back in June we said it would all end in tears:

I wonder if it'll affect Colin Garlick's job.

Not much in the betting regarding their new manager. I suspect MIchael Brown may be given the job on an extended time period. Doesn't seem to be any stand out candidates, and I'd assume that their Chief Exec won't look towards someone he's worked with before.

Wouldn't be surprised if they end up regretting this. A lot of the players he signed this summer will have come to work with him, and now they've lost him. Very tough job for whoever takes over there.

Tangled up in blue.

It was a recipe for disaster from the start. Port Vale are yet another club who think they have a god given right to be in the Championship. They’ll be a few out of work managers sniffing around. Flitcroft maybe...
