He's like an over-enthusiastic school boy on the pitch charging about with his head down. We could have had a few more points on the board if his finishing was better, a last minute header away to Burton springs to mind.( His shooting practice just before that game was comical - he never came close to scoring).He often leaves a shove in on the opposition player at the end of the move which costs him a yellow and ofcourse any advantage we may have gained positionally. Nobody would dispute he tries and puts the work in, but he's as bad as pretty much anyone else we've seen up front.
His lack of awareness, appreciation of the game and others around him have been the main issue. It's unfair to someone like Tait because Tait at least knew what he should be doing in a given situation, it's just he rarely did it.

Agree with your comment on him being more suited to a wide role.
I've got a soft spot for George mainly because as you have mentioned he always looks to be putting in the effort, although he might waste energy giving out pointless shoves to the defender closest to him. Looking back at his stats he's never looked to be a goal-scorer as such. But, there is just something that makes it hard for me to not like him.
He also reminds me of JLAA in that when JLAA had time to think, especially early doors he was absolute turd, no one knew what he was going to do! Put him under pressure and he could pull a wonder goal out nothing. I hope GD comes good, but if the twitter comments being posted on here are to be believed then it might be to late. |  | | |
