Two points adrift in the relegation zone now with two games to go - away at Gateshead and away at Kidderminster next Saturday when Kiddie could be going for auto promotion.

i really fear for County this season...Gateshead away is a must win...and then at Kiidy next week it could well be that Kiddy will be out to get as many goals as poss past them as it could well be that the difference between them and Mansfield will be goal difference...i think most county fans were hoping that the kiddy game next week was a dead rubber as far as kiddy were concerned but with mansfield losing today its a whole new ball game...id rather see County stay up but it looks grim

Sadder to see Dave Bayliss's Barrow relegated. It doesn't seem all that long - but it probably is - since Barrow were, along with Dale, in the old Division 4.

Remarkable, but they lost league status in 1972 at the expense of Hereford United. It all seems so recent, yet it's all of 41 years ago.

It's a long way back now......

They were 'done like a kipper' according to one of my colleagues, due to their outpost location and Hereford being more central.

Back then, with re-election rather than automatic relegation/promotion, that was the pattern: Peterborough for Gateshead in 1960; Oxford for Accy S. in 1963 (admittedly, Accy resigned and weren't allowed to withdraw their resignation); Cambridge for Bradford PA in 1970; Wimbledon for Workington in 1977; (in 1978 the geographical aspect didn't apply when Wigan replaced Southport - and, voted out with 31 points, Southport were next to bottom to Dale, with 24 points).

Dale were again re-elected in 1980, 1982 and 1984. When automatic relegation was introduced in 1987 Dale's eventual departure seemed inevitable, but it hasn't happened ...

Agreed - they were most probably overspending the season they beat us at Wembley. Who knows where we'd be now had we gone up that Centenary season (Although Hilly would've most probably been poached sooner - we could have had Eyre and Coleman in 08/09!)

Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10

They are a blatant example of what can happen when a club is horrendously mismanaged

And to think how gutted we all were that evening, but it could have been the best thing we did not going up that season, I dont think we were ready by any stretch.

Life is a game of fate.

The problem was we only had 1 season to make a good fist of it - if we could have kept hold of Kennedy and Dagnall we may have even got back to back promotions who knows. To finish above Sheff Weds and Charlton and beat them at Spotland and beat Southampton home and away just shows how good we were.

Need to beat a side with 90 points to stay in the Conference?

Can't see that happening somehow.

Surely the crowds, which ahve largely stuck with them impressively enough, will be disappearing when they're in Conf North.

Suspect Stockport will be back before too long but it must be rough being one of theirs at the moment.

Is there a good reason for excluding the visiting Directors ? Is there some kind of 'history' between these clubs that has escaped my attention ?

It seems a nonsensical decision on the face of it, but no doubt there are reasons somewhere. A bit harsh, considering it could be Stockport's last game prior to relegation.

I think Kiddie are concerned about the extra security the Stockport directors would need to protect them from their own supporters

Fook Stockport.

This. When they beat us at Wembley, in the play off final, we all knew it was on a false economy, paying wages they couldn't afford. So fook 'em, they've reaped what they've sown.
