2023 Retained/Released List
at 16:16 15 May 2023

https://www.rochdaleafc.co.uk/news/2023/may/retainedreleased-list-202223/

Some encouraging statements in there...

"Ten players remain under contract heading into the 2023/24 campaign and in addition, three options have been triggered. However, a number of players who remain under contract have been informed that they have been placed on the transfer list with immediate effect."

"Any player that remains in talks and eventually wishes to stay with the club next season would be expected to take a substantial drop in salary."

I hope it's at least three players on the transfer list.

I wouldn't have gone anywhere near a new contract for Kelly or Keohane, but we may get some value if they're on much lower wages.

Kit Manufacturers and Clubs

Just seen this link on Twitter - bit.ly/FOOTYKITS

It's interesting to see the kit manufacturer split among the clubs.

Disclaimer: I may be playing fast and loose with "interesting" in the statement above, but I liked it.

Dale Away Kit 2023/2024 - Choices
at 13:39 10 Mar 2023

Dale have released the options for the Away Kit 2023/2024...

https://www.rochdaleafc.co.uk/news/2023/march/awayshirtvote-2324/

Interesting that Red was one of the popular choices in the survey, I think the 'new (half)breed' of two teamers have had an influence on that.

I'm not a fan of the design for 1-3, but quite like the designs for 4-9. I'm leaning towards Yellow so its 5 or 8 for me, with a preference for 8 as its a nod to the glorious chevrons of the mid 90's.

I know the Yellow (and Blue) looks a bit Leeds, but I'd counter that and say the Orange (and Blue) looks Luton.

The GOAT

What a guy,
What a player.
What a legend.
The GOAT.

I was surprisingly emotional when that hit the back of the net.

Here’s to you Ian Henderson…

Stockdale pre-season interview
at 20:21 29 Jun 2022

Good interview, very honest as always. I get the impression that we won’t be making many more permanent signings (hopefully wrong), but will have a few loan players coming in from Premier League clubs.

I think we’re still a couple of full backs/wing backs short (depending on formation), along with a few creative midfielders/attacking midfielders.

C’mon people, where is the new kit thread.

Here’s an article from the BBC with some - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53388384

Taking inspiration from Loch Ness FC, do you think we could get images of...no, as you were.

Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Sky Box Sets etc
at 12:28 23 Mar 2020

I think Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Sky Box Sets can now be classified as essentials. Even more sore when the inevitable decision is made to put the country into full lockdown. So, what are people's recommendations...

Sports Documentaries
Comedy
Action
Easy Watching

I've started watching Chicago Fire in the 'Easy Watching' category. It's not exactly 'deep' but it's entertaining enough. That will spin off into Chicago PD no dount, so I'll have a fair stack of episodes to get through.

I'll be getting back into House of Cards and Designated Survivor.

Breaking Bad was superb; anybody who hasn't watched that should give it a go. I couldn't get into The Wire.

Well done to the board!
at 18:02 22 Apr 2019

The ‘new’ board of directors have come in for an awful lot of criticism since taking charge, but they have to take some credit for making a huge decision which looks to have saved our League One status.

I did not agree with the sacking of Hilly, but hand on heart I could not foresee this turnaround had Hilly still been in charge. The sacking of Hilly, and appointment of BBM, has been nothing short of a master stroke.

I’m sure BBM has a lot to learn, he’s not even had a transfer window yet, but the players are playing for him and that gives us a platform heading into next season.

Well done to the board and a massive well done to BBM and his team.

2018/2019 Training Wear on sale
at 16:20 20 Jun 2018

Dale have released their 2018/2019 Training Wear...

https://www.rochdaleafc.co.uk/news/2018/june/club-shop--training-wear-2018/

In a word...awful. It looks horrendously cheap. The items with the Errea logo shading down the sleeves may have been OK if they didn't have ROCHDALE A.F.C. plastered across the back. I bet there are Junior teams out there that look more professional than this rubbish.

I really hope this isn't a sign of the quality to expect come the 30th June...

Mick 'Papa Chaff' Chaffey
at 09:33 29 Jan 2016

I'm absolutely gutted to post this, but I'm sad to inform you all that Mick 'Papa Chaff' Chaffey passed away last night.

I've written this out a hundred times, but I still can't do the man justice. Mick was the nicest bloke you could ever meet and Dale through and through. Up until recently Mick could be seen at pretty much every Dale game, with his son David (Chaff), and whatever rabble he'd driven to the game this week. Always comically grumpy, always something to moan about, but above anything else always a top top bloke who was great to have in your company.

Cliche central but he will be missed. Massively.

Chaff has asked me to post because so many on here knew Papa Chaff, in fact he's probably given half of us a lift to an away game at some point.

RIP Papa Chaff.

England squad announced. Out goes Ballance, in comes Bairstow.

I think I agree with that. I'd guess it means Bell up to 3 (on this home ground), Root in at 4, and Bairstow coming in at 5.
