The lack of ambition or even chancing our arm in the market has got us the squad we have now. We need to at least ask the question to some of these players in order to improve.
TBH we need a big centre back Gareth Griffiths style, a left back, a defensive midfielder with an engine, a wide player with some end product and a strong centre forward as well as Quigley. That's bare minimum for me.

I am hoping with Bentleys Morecambe connections we raid them while they are in financial dire straights and take Cole Stockton and Ashley Hunter off their hands. Probably wishfull thinking though?

Players Already Gone?
at 21:56 2 Jan 2023

In todays interview, Jim Bentley said that a couple of players have already left.
Who do people think they are?
Loan players Slicker & Tulloch?
Maybe Malley, Brierley, Campbell or Taylor?

Just checked Rochdale, Man City and Blackburns youth teams, nowhere in sight ? Very strange.
Anyone have any ideas where he is ?

You are entitled to your opinion, I am entitled to mine. Thank you for your polite request. Please consider it politely declined.
On this forum, there are times when people are not kind to one another, the same with twitter. I deleted my tweets because the person who spoke to me in confidence did not want to scupper any deal and I also did not think it looked good me and Brierls getting into it where everyone can see, as did Brierls. We did this because we are grown ass men who can deal with differences of opinion with civility. I respect him for that as I hope he does me.
After exchanging DM's with Brierls in confidence, I think he can verify the things that I was saying had real merit to them. I just can not make them public as I have been asked not to tweet them publicly. I have respected this and not tweeted them publicly.
As a fan since 1988/89 season, a Dale Trust member and club shareholder, I have never and will never do anything to harm our club, that is a promise.
I have a lot of faith in Robbie Stockdale and the board, but I also hold a constructively critical view we are never aggressive enough in the transfer market. It is a view I and most others have held for decades now, I would love the club to address the issue.
I do not feel there is anything wrong in expressing that opinion and so will not apologize for it.
We are all entitled to our own opinions, but name calling or discouraging opinions only ever results in bullying, targeted harassment and division. It never ends well.
For an example of this, just look at previous actions of Morton House and where it got them. Nowhere thankfully.
Also look at the examples of clubs that have gone bust or are in decline. Fan bases arguing does not look good or achieve anything.
I am the individual who sent in questions to the now infamous YouTube AGM.
One of the questions I asked was if it was not about time we had Dale Trust representation on the board. Tony Pockney replied to the question.
A short while after Murray Knight has now joined the board and the trust bought more shares and has more say as a major shareholder. I genuinely could not be happier about this. I think it is a great step forward to safe guarding our club and would like to thank Colin Cavanah and Murray Knight for the work they do.
If we support one another and remember we all support the same club, we will see a stronger community and club.
Hopefully this will draw a line under things and nip it in the bud. Please remember a rising tide lifts all ships and lets support each other positively.
I hope you have a good day #UpTheDale

Suggestions for increasing the clubs income?

A 'Homecoming' gig for Lisa Stansfield in the summer would not be a bad idea, surely would sell a lot of tickets?

Also think putting a drinks machine and a snack vending machine in each of the home stands may reduce the kiosk queues and be able to bring a little extra. I never use the kiosks because I either have to miss 5 minutes of the first half or second half depending if I want to queue or not. The machines may reduce complaints and waiting times and bring in a few quid. Particularly with the younger supporters.

Also think if we can do a cheap rental in town, maybe have a club shop with the ability to sell dale lotto and match tickets there.

Also have a comedy night, held in the 1907 lounge to raise funds for ground improvements and the same principal for a live music event.

I know from a podcast [Price of Football or Hard truth, can't remember which one] there are companies also doing rent to buy schemes on electronic advert perimeter boards which may bring in some big sponsors and possibly attract a Sky TV game or 2 if they don't have to bring them and set them up ?

I am sure there are other possible things to look at.
Truly think if some of the board members read this thread it could be of some use.
Forgive me for saying this as I hate the term, but as fans we are the 'customer' and we know our club well enough to know where we can improve.

Hope this thread helps in some way, thank you to those participating 👍

With the pandemic and future uncertainty about another lockdown.
Thought it might be an idea to think about how from a fans perspective, we can help the clubs turnover.
Forget euro millions lottery suggestions, real suggestions that might work.

Any suggestions ?

Peter Thomas ... Where is he ?
at 08:08 31 Jul 2021

There was a few people on twitter a month or so ago that said Ethan Brierley was on trial at Man City and they were keen to look at Peter Thomas as well.
Does anyone know for a fact that PT went to City on trial as well and if they signed him or if he is still there with BBM [who offered him a deal at Dale] ?
Hopefully someone at the club updates us as he was definitely a player with big potential for us. Really hope he comes back.

Barnsley, behind closed doors...
at 11:43 15 Jul 2021

From the 20 minutes I watched, this is what I saw ...
Please note, its only my personal assessment and opinion based on a 20 minute highlight package. I am sure we will get fitter and better. Don't chew my head off ! 😁

Lynch looked a bit more confident, perhaps knowing he will be number 1.
Keohane kept getting done for pace at right back, he is definitely a midfielder and needs fitness. Would like to see him in the DM role and we get a proper right back in.
O'Connell at times looked like he could not be arsed and was looking around him as if to say what am I doing here.
The centre back on trial was out jumped for the second goal and looked lost.
The left back on trial did not get near man or ball the entire highlights. Looks young and a few years off men's football.
Brierley I think is a good player but does not have the frame at his age and was dis-possessed quite easily a few times.
Young lad Kershaw pressed well in midfield but did not get on the ball.
Another young lad called Jesus looks quite promising, almost like a second coming ? 😂
He did the dirty work of tracking back, looked calm on the ball, could be a good Kwadwo Baah replacement in there with him, quite optimistic about him.
Grant has good feet but was far too deep to support Beesley and it showed. Bees will run all day but he needs a man playing off him to be effective.
Odoh looks sprite and could win us a few free kicks or pens like in this game. He has always played as a left winger in his career but as an unpredictable left sided forward or number 10 he could give us options.
Done looked fit and was pressing well.
I like McShane but he banged his left knee in this game and the term 'made of glass' spring to mind with him. Which it never really should for a centre half. He reads the game well, but little point in that if injuries stop you playing in the game ? Would not offer him terms to be honest. Can not see him taking a pay as you play deal. That's the only deal he should get if offered. Can not keep using wage bill for those that can't play more than 30 games a season.
Morley took the pen well, also looks to have filled out a bit.
Young lad Scanlon at right back, got turned inside out a few times in second half, looks slight as well, will need to toughen up and get stronger for men's football, particularly in league 2. He could perhaps be a winger ? He did well when further up the field than Dooley.
Dooley has a touch like a baby elephant and put McShane in trouble a few times. He needs to improve or it will be his last season with us.

Something worth supporting
at 12:56 16 Jun 2021

It would be great if the club did something but to be frank, I don't think they can arrange a piss up in a brewery at the minute, particularly how bad our media team have been at communicating this last few seasons.

First Signing For Rochdale ?
at 12:54 16 Jun 2021

Well looks like Hull City did not need too much time to sign Andy Cannon, hopefully Oli Rathbone will stay now, although I suspect if other teams are using analytics, he maybe up there in the considerations ? Although just watching him, you can tell he is a championship player in my book.
Look out for some team like Preston or Barnsley to make a move ?

First Signing For Rochdale ?
at 19:53 14 Jun 2021

Going off the released thread and working on players who are free. These are players I think could improve us without breaking the bank.
All players this year will have to be more realistic about the money they are after, but we have to get our arse in gear or miss out on players that would see us push for a play off spot.

GK = Mark Howard [Scunthorpe]
RB = Jordan Clarke [Scunthorpe]
CB = Omar Sowunmi [Colchester]
LB = Zeki Fryers [Swindon]
RM = Jordan Maguire-Drew [Leyton Orient]
LM = Abo Eisa [Scunthorpe]
CF = Lee Novak [Bradford]

First Signing For Rochdale ?
at 09:18 14 Jun 2021

Lots of clubs getting business done early. I suspect that as the club has furloughed a lot of staff, possibly players too. The club may not be looking to sign players until as late as possible to keep the wage bill down for as long as possible.
As Rochdale fans we are probably well aware we always have late and last pickings.
So realistically who would you like us to sign?

My first realistic suggestion would be Paddy Madden [31 CF] from Stockport County.
Massive experience, goal scoring record, we need 3 strikers for the season as last year showed us, he would want league football, could sign a 2 year deal, financially possible if SCFC in non league can afford him, a nightmare against us and Irish for BBM. Thoughts ?

So who do you think we should sign realistically?

May be a plot from the communist Dingles from the over end of Heywood.
Expand Heywood and then claim it as part of Bury.
Now they have a league team.
Bloody sneaky these communists, particularly from that neck of the woods!

at 08:11 3 Jun 2021

Kieran Maguire has confirmed on the price of football podcast, he has been contacted by people in the media confirming Matt Southall and Glenn Thomas interest in Rochdale and are being looked on favourably by the board.

Buckle in, this will be horrific if this board get their way, could be the end of our club and I don't think I am exaggerating sadly.
