It seems like Joe Thompson has been at Dale for ages. Indeed, I think he's the longest serving player at the club after Gary Jones having made his debut for the club back in the 2005-6 season - with him and Jonah the only survivors from before Hillcroft took charge. But despite all of that, he goes into the 2010-11 season as just having turned 21 years old, and in that time, he has already experienced more with his home town club than 99% of the players who have played for the Dale. And in addition to that, he's also been the subject of a million different debates on the messageboard on his worth within the side, but it has certainly been Joe who has had the final word on that front. But those debates were (mostly) put to bed during the promotion season of 2009-10 where JT really established himself as a first team player, with more than a bit part to play at Spotland. Whilst he may not have had the silky skills of a Will Buckley, his contribution was not to be underated, as he chipped in with eight goals from midfield. Arguably, Thompson has proved himself to be the best crosser of the ball at the club, and you could even go as far as saying that the former Dale trainee is also the best header of the ball too. I don't think there's anyone within the squad with as many headed goals for us. Joey signed a new two year contract with the club during the Summer of 2010. Player Ratings for Joe Thompson
