What is going on with VAR?... 09:56 - Jul 10 with 1386 viewsDorsetIan

The Premier League has confirmed THREE VAR penalty errors on one night.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53357841

This is really past a joke now. They have had how many months while no football has been played to do a proper review of VAR and get the whole thing scrapped or sorted out and yet it's just the same old sh!t.

VAR would interrupts and therefore spoil the game, even if it is was making sure that every decision was 100% correct.

Currently it is spoiling the game for no real improvement in the standard of decision making. Sure, it is correcting some obviously wrong decisions, but I'd say it was making an equal number of really stupid decisions about handball and offside. And if it can't even get the penalties it reviews right, what is the point?

It's use is so sh*t in the Premier League that FIFA have just taken over full control of it. From next season, referees will have pitch-side monitors to look at - just like they do in other European leagues but strangely not in the English game. There will also have to be clear daylight between the attacker & defender in offside cases... none of this "his hand was offside" or "his boot lace was just over the line" bullsh*t.

It's still not ideal - but to coin a phrase; every little helps.

Lee Mason was always going to give that decision against Everton, in fact he couldn’t wait to give it. If he used the pitch side monitors he would still have given it. He’s an awful referee who also gave the Brighton ‘penalty’ as the VAR assistant earlier this season.

Having the same sh1t referred making the decisions and endorsing them through VAR is the problem, including their often outrageous favouritism of some clubs and bias against other, not VAR itself.

Remember the last World Cup? How many VAR decisions were wrong, none.

Think it shows up our poor refereeing standards or is it glaring bias?. On MOTD they were suggesting an ex-player should sit with VAR adjudicator to give advice!
It's shocking that wrong decisions are made even after the slowmo video. They were poor decisions even before VAR was involved. No other sport seems to make such a hash of video adjudication.

That's the thing for me. Every other sport seems to have been able to introduce something which is simple, sensible and actually improves things. Football goes for the most complicated thing imaginable with people sitting in rooms hundreds of miles away playing video games with lines on a screen and the net result is hardly (if at all) any better than what there was before. You couldn't make it up.

And the real problem for me is the contempt that they are showing the fans. The voices saying this is sh!t, this is spoiling football, get louder all the time - but no one seems to be interested in sorting it out. It's a real example of vested interests not being able to admit their mistakes.

I think that they were right last night, get some ex pros involved. After watching both situations again it was clear that neither was a penalty. I also thought that Bednareks tackle was fair and should not have been a free kick or yellow card. He won the ball with his tackle and the players momentum took him into the follow through. It used to be a contact sport!

I’m not sure about ex players, you only have to look at how ex players are in the media, mainly ex player’s of certain clubs with all fan like coverage for their ex teams.

Latest on VAR is that Colina the European refs boss is suggesting the VAR analysts (other refs) jare reluctant to correct any referee mates decisions! So it the refs ‘union’ that could be to blame for poor decisions being upheld.

Amazing that cricket, rugby and tennis have it pretty much bang on..but when it comes to football it's all over the shop....farcical and embarrassing in reality.
